When Freedom is in a Jail CellA Poem by Not here
The world's so much more
complicated. All the colors have been slowly faded. So many deaths and so many crimes. So many mistakes and so many times. Such little time for a simple kiss. So many times that we'll always miss. So when the war is right outside there's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. But when the battle is in my head I think everyone's already dead. So we wait. And watch the road. We shake with fear and carry our load. We were born to live but we live to die. We smile to laugh but we laugh to cry. And when the war is out and in, we grab our luggage and we begin. The road is long. The journey's deep. The night is cold and lacking of sleep. But if we make it, we'll find some peace. If they lock us up, it's a release. At least we'll have food, no guns at our head. At least we'll live and we won't be dead. So lock us up. We're refugees. At least in this cell, I won't freeze. Do what you want. We're refugees. All we need is you to love us please. Please.
