Hide the Way

Hide the Way

A Poem by Not here
"

Hide the way to my hideaway.

"
Follow me back to my hideaway.
It's a dark place where we'll go and stay.
Where we'll be lonely and cry today.
Sometimes there's not a single, other way.

Follow me down to a lonely place.
Everyone's mask there is a happy face.
And all around there's only standing space,
'cause there's people who they want to replace.

Follow me up to a laughing home.
Inside they're crumbling like styrofoam.
Outside they keep a smile, always roam.
But they will never escape from that dome.

Follow me forward to the place I go.
'Cause the whole world could never ever know.
See, there's some things that happened long ago.
And they can't be fixed by a simple "Hello."

Take me to where the sad people blend.
Show me the wrists that they all try to mend.
Tell me how they survive on the weekends.
I don't understand how they all pretend.

I'll show you people who will never smile.
Some of them sit in alleys, some in aisles.
Some of them pray, while others rap freestyle.
And others hang themselves once in a while.

---I'm getting to your read requests soon, I swear. This week has been ridiculously hard. For me anyways. But I'll get there.

Amazing. Really portrays the way the people hide in our everyday world and that no one really shares their whole story. Well written!

thank you very much suvada :)
Truth and logic in these words.
"I'll show you people who will never smile.
Some of them sit in alleys, some in aisles.
Some of them pray, while others rap freestyle.
And others hang themselves once in a while."
Most people don't want to see the dark hideaways. Keep them safe from the truth. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I did and you are welcome.
Ouch, there was a sting in the tail.
Loved the first verse, sometimes there's not another single way. A good cry can sometimes do wonders...
Great poem. :)

thanks emily :) i sure will
I really like how you describe that everyone can have a place to hide and that for each person it's different but at the same time we all have something in common, the need to hide. I really liked the wording in each phrase of this poem.

thank you very much alondra :) this was one of my favorite pieces to write
I like the repeat of the 'Follow me', it has something hypnotic to it.

The poem reads and feels like you want to show the way to some place unknown to others but very familiar to you.

Well done.
