Romantics in the Dark

Romantics in the Dark

A Poem by Not here

I'll delay
and I will stay
through all the wintry nights.
I'll hold you
like I've told you.
I'll love you through the fights.

I'll console
your hurting soul
and every single day
whenever the storm
begins to swarm
I will never sway.

Our love won't break.
Every mistake
brings me closer still to you.
I promise we
will live happily
ever after. Just us two.

When our fairy tale
my life derailed
I thought it might be the end.
But instead I found
in the madness around
something much more than a friend.

So let me hold you here tonight,
and never let you go.
Let me tell you pretty thoughts
that you would never know.

Let me feel your every breath
and be your only light.
'Cause I would fight off even death
to hold you close tonight.

"I'll love you through the fights."
This is how everyone should think. Being in a relationship isn't about being happy all the time. Great writing!

Nice poem Dante. All the best for you two. I like the part "i'll love you through the fights" No relationship is ever smooth sailing but real love it worth it. Keep smiling :)

i agree :) and thanks for the review smiley face
Interesting word play, your rhyme and meter schemes are strong and your sentence layout is artistically fun. Your emotional content has never been more evident, seems having someone of interest in your mind brings all kinds of good things out of your mind :~)

A poetic gesture of love, with a format to die for,, :-) Life is all and
All things must be cherries, and somewhere along the way love gets in the mix,, but other times its just a strong mutual understanding.
Your ink marks deep, outstanding piece of poetry..
thanks for sharing, I will read some more"

david, I don't think that ever before did I read one of your pieces and go, "Awww!" This really tugs on the heart and gives it a slight twist, as if a flourish...I hate to sound like I'm just echoing Jan's thoughts (below) but any love that is also based on strong friendship has a much greater chance of having staying power, a longer lift of mood for both involved. The format used would be better suited to a chaotic type of write, but you still make it work with this one. A very accomplished piece, well done! take care...dan

thank you emily :)
A new softer voice, but I think this is going to my library for reread. It's open and honest, uses some internal rhyme, but feels like it's from the heart, not the head. That's the type of poetry that speaks to my emotions and my sappy side. That love that has a strong base in friendship, is the kind with staying power. The willingness tho be vulnerable to another is a gift.
