A Door, A Key, A DayA Poem by Not here
I just can't cope with this anymore.
I need some hope but you slammed the door. I need the key but you threw it away. I need your love that left yesterday. I want a dream that does not bring fears. I need a day that does not bring tears. I hope for a sunset up in the sky that I can look on without wishing to die. I fell from cloud nine, landed hard, hit the ground, shattered in shards. I woke up in a foreign cage that barely contained all my rage. I just can't cope with this anymore. I need some hope but you slammed the door. I need the key but you threw it away. I need your love that left yesterday. Searching for peace on my knees again, the glass heart broke and stabbed in my skin. I want to remember what it feels like to bleed; I'd rather feel pain than this numbness, I plead. If the world must break let it land on me. If the sky does fall, I promise not to flee. And I realize every selfish doubt and I think on what life's all about. I can't even breath when you open the door and you offer a hand to me down on the floor. Then you hand me the key, and you whisk me away. And you give me your love for the happiest day.
