Miss Mary Loon

Miss Mary Loon

A Poem by Not here

Mary's just a little girl;
Mary really wants a friend.
Her whole life has been a whirl,
a tornado without end.

Tossed between her parents quickly,
after they divorced so soon,
life has always been quite tricky
for little Miss Mary Loon.

Suitcase never quite unpacked
while she walks along in life.
At her father's home she's whacked
and her mother's full of strife.

Mary grew up very poorly,
never really had a home.
After waking up she sorely
decided that she should roam.

Miss Mary Loon packed up her bags,
now a lonely eighteen years.
Dressed only in her mother's rags,
Mary Loon faced all her fears.

Many problems she encountered there,
in a life that's split in two.
Back home her mother lost her hair,
and her father started chew.

Now she wanders lonely bars,
looking for a home in sight.
A man she finds, and all the scars
will be reopened that night.

Miss Mary Loon married that man,
begrudgingly and sad.
Thought it was never in the plan,
he soon would be a dad.

The baby turned out just to be
a girl all her own.
But after many fights, you see,
Mary had a new home.

Now that girl's thrown between
her father and her mom.
And by the time that she's a teen,
she's just a ticking bomb.

Mary watches her crying now
and to her daughter beckoned.
That was a telling moment how
it was Mary the Second.

The cycle repeated much more
and now the tale is heard
of why she wanders lonely bars:
Miss Mary Loon the Third.

Naww that's so sad. The poor girl has been through so much and when she finally finds solace in a man's arms she loses him and watches her daughter go through the same things she did.

a constructive piece, it depicts emotions real and sad.

Simple words rhyming in my ears as the implicit meaning brings tears to my ears.
Truly a wonderful piece, well written!

Wow this is just amazing and sad and a lot of other emotions I just can describe.
You outdone yourself with this poem and its a hard truth, you see all of those kind of things here in El Salvador, teens getting pregnant at such a young age and they either abort or just let their child dissappear somewhere else.
This is a really good poem David, It is an awesome poem, this is going to my favorite right away.
Awesome man, simply awesome.

Wonderful! Very clear, and you put your thoughts together in a very powerful way. This seems like something I would read in a lit class and analyze in discussion, it's that good! Well done!

An excellent portrayal of the cycle and very well written.

I disagree that it is unbreakable, in my experience it is in one's breaking and remaking which breaks the cycle. But that is just my opinion and the differences are what keep it interesting.

I loved the read, thanks for sharing.

I just loved it!
It was deep, I am a big fan of deep poems!
I love her name!
Her last name reminds me of the duck 'Loon', I live in Minnesota, that's our state bird.
Keep it up!

Oh my God.
This was so hard hitting.
As it is this evening I am quite emotional having just watched Wuthering Heights, and now this poem.
You write so excellently well.
My heart reaches out to all those Mary Loons out there.
