Alone

Alone

A Poem by Not here

I'm not a poet, an author, or that great;
but i know what it feels like when you take the bait;
you fall for someone and they fall right back;
and then much too soon your forced to go and pack;
We all make mistakes and we all believe a lie;
holding onto the past only makes us want to cry;
Its hard to let go and its hard to move along;
all those people out there goofin around, singin their own song;
Some of us are like them, tryin to ignore the pain;
Some of us just go around pretendin life is but a game;
But the fame and the games could never hope to contain;
Inside of every single one of there sits a waiting flame;
We all dream, we all hope, and even sometimes desire
to reach down inside and put a spark to that fire;
We all at some point want to make a change in the world;
and everybody wants to see their own flag unfurled;
So what happens when we fall and we find ourselves on the ground?
What do we do when all we do is stepped on and pound?
Think about what happens when you have nothing left.
Be prepared for the trials and know what to do when your a mess.
If you are depressed, scared, or confused;
Understand that there are some people who would lose
anything to make you happy, do anything to make you glad;
and if you have those people in your life things wont be all that bad.
This is just a piece of work from a normal guy like me,
I'm not a poet and this poem might be a catastrophe.
But remember what I said and try to understand,
When you fall down, reach up and grab your friend's hand.

You have nailed the sentiment behind all the games of love David and you certainly acknowledge it at the end of stanza three: "Inside of every single one of there sits a waiting flame;". We all have flames inside of us waiting to be stoked with the love of another. While your piece speaks of issues we face when we rush in, or someone else sees it as a game, or we fall, there is also a great deal of hope left for us in your last line: "When you fall down, reach up and grab your friend's hand." If we surround ourselves with family and friends then we can be a little more content as we patiently wait to find someone to share our passions with, A good first poem indeed.

The message is simple and overall, not bad at all. But if you're going for a smooth flow throughout the poem, watch out for lines that are too long and makes a reader struggle a bit to maintain said flow.

For your first poem, this is quite impressive. The message is both powerful and relatable, and the flow is great. It rhymes well and doesnt feel forced. Judging from this, I'd say you have tons of potential, so keep on writing. The more you write, the better you'll get at it over time :)

Your first poem? WOW. Brother you should seriously consider writing more. This is raw talent many of us, can only dream of being able to wield a pen so well.

beautiful piece, David. helping hands are rare things to find these days. it's like a reminder that we still have a little piece of humanity inside. good, good. keep spreading the message through your works.

Reach out and grab a friends hand sounds like a safe plan to me. Come on lets talk more about it.
