[Yuki Cross's Perspective] Chapter Nine: Fear paralyzed me as I gazed upon the three vampires staring me down from on top on the hill in front of me, forty feet away. Yori, Shizuka and Toga Yagari. I was still holding Irene's shotgun, but I didn't know what the accurate range on it was, and I certainly didn't know how many bullets I had. Seeing the three vampires in front of me caused my throat to catch, and then, a scream fueled by pure terror ripped its way from my lungs, up my throat and out my mouth.

I heard Shizuka faintly chuckle, then all three vampires started running after me. My feet pounded across the dry leaves beneath my feet. I looked over my shoulder, another terror fueled scream ripped its way out of me. Fear almost choked me. I didn't want to die! I didn't want to be a vampire! Tears streamed out of my eyes and down my cheeks as I visualized the horrible fate that would befall me if Shizuka caught me. I was still carrying Irene's shotgun, it was becoming heavy in my tired arms. I didn't dare drop it, even if it weighed me down a little, it was my best chance of survival if the three vampires who were perusing me did eventually catch up to me, which they definitely would.

I didn't look back at my three pursuers, I could already hear them behind me, and all but breathing down my neck. I saw a few obstacles up ahead. Rocks, fallen trees and thorn bushes, they seem to have been set up their purely for my misfortune. I came to the first log, then jumped over it, I heard my three pursuers all hit the ground on the other side of it. I came to the fallen tree, it was too high for me to go over, so I slid under it. I was shorter than my pursuers, and I heard one of them, Toga Yagari, hit the fallen tree with a thump. I laughed to myself. I glanced behind me to see Yori still chasing me, her ruby eyes flaring every time a sunbeam hit them between the breaks in the canopy leaves. Where is Shizuka...? I asked myself. I then found myself running beside a hill, the hill was on my right. The hill's slant rose upwards as I ran. I looked up to the apex of it... And a sight so frightening met my eyes that I screamed in terror. Nothing but terror.

I heard Shizuka chuckle. She truly was monstrous. "Just leave me alone! Please!" I screamed at her. After a second or two of silence, I yelled at her again. "What did I ever do to you? What did Yori ever do to you?" I screamed at her. I just heard Shizuka laugh. My hatred for her multiplied, but my fear for her multiplied as well. "You monster!" I screamed at Shizuka. I glanced up to the hill where I last saw her, but she wasn't there! Fear filled me, another scream of horror was working its way up my throat. I looked behind me. My eyes were met by a pair of red-pink ones. That scream of horror ripped its way out of me so violently, that I do not know how my throat isn't bleeding, let alone sore. I turned around and ran harder, but Shizuka pushed me to the ground. I screamed again as I fell and collapsed, I made contact with the hard earth with a loud oof! I heard three sets of footsteps running behind me.

I tried getting up, but a shoe made of soft fabric met my back and violently forced me to the ground. My face hit the dirt, blurring my vision temporarily. I turned my head back, and I could see my three pursuers out of the corner of my eye. Yori, Shizuka and Toga Yagari. All of their eyes were sparkling like ruby gemstones in the spangled starlight that shone from above. I noticed that the sun was starting to rise above the horizon, but the stars were still out. A tear welled up in my eye. "Please don't kill me!" I sobbed, the tear fell from my eye, rolling down my cheek and falling to the dirt below. I heard a soft laugh from Shizuka. "Well, you certainly put up a fight, another hour and you would have been safe." Shizuka slowly, it sounded as though she truly pitied me. I knew what she meant. There was one hour until sunrise.

I almost made it. I thought to myself. The saying close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades recited itself in my head. It was true. I was close, but not close enough. I struggled underneath Shizuka's shoe. I discovered that Shizuka was the one who was holding me down. I writhed and kicked and squirmed, trying to break free. I yelled out in frustration and sadness. This is it. This is where my life ends. It ends at the hand of Shizuka Hio, a murderous, monstrous pureblood vampire. I thought to myself. I heard the three vampires behind me start to walk closer, well, Shizuka didn't move, Toga Yagari and Yori did, though. Another tear rolled out of my eye and down my cheek. I then started to sob, then cry. I'm going to die. I'm going to be a blood thirsty vampire. I thought to myself. "Please... Don't do this Shizuka..." I pleaded.
