VictoryA Poem by David LeeI wrote this as a representation of how my months of sorrow and depression has finally come to an end. I didn't think the feeling was good enough until I decided to write them down.
Treading the path of defeat,
I lost my way and surrender was my last card; To bout any further would be a fool's choice, Hence, with head bowed low I walk away; Walking past my adversaries, I did my best to avoid their smug looks; Nothing seemed in place, Everything collided and burnt to bare ashes; But as the holy book says, Ecc 9:4 "Anyone who is among the living has hope "even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!"; I knew the battle wasn't over, I knew there was nothing else to do but fight to regain my liberty; Stepping over the ballistic rocks and obstacles, I squinted at a blinding light waiting in the end; Groping, reaching, grasping, grabbing for whatever that shall aid me to it, The light was still and sure. I knew it wasn't fleeing anywhere; At the moment of arrival, A ray of hope shined down on me; The feel of victory, it was strong and powerful; The smell of victory, it was magically alluring; The taste of victory, it was better than a Royal's feast; The sight of victory, it was like sweets to children; The moment of victory, it was mine. © 2010 David LeeAuthor's Note
