If You Stay with Me

If You Stay with Me

A Poem by David Pitman

i would give you the world
and all thats in it
a puppy and boquet of roses
but I don't have it
I'm sorry, but a tear is all I can give

Not from my eye
cause I know how to hide,
but I'm sorry, a tear is all can give

I wish that a woman would come along
and reformat my heart-song
but, baby, until then
I'm still lying here
I'm sorry, but a tear is all I can give

It flows from my heart
a melancholy work of art
Darling, I'm sory, a tear is all I can give

But you can wipe it away
every single day
if you stay with me
if you stay with me

You can wipe away
be the light of my day
if you stay with me
if you stay with me
