Worship the Unsafe God

Many pray to a caricature of God, a crafted image projected from their own conception, complete with their particular weaknesses. In these caricatures, God becomes safe. This safe god has no surgical tools to delve into our deeper sins. He has no power to disturb or shock us. There can be no shaking of paradigms, jarring of thought patterns, dislodging of false securities, altering of self-definitions! God becomes a predictable vendo machine. Put in the necessary coins and this god produces the goodies.

 

Christians who pray to a "caricature god" NEVER ACTUALLY ENTER THE PRESENCE OF GOD. Or they would be transformed. They instead tag on a comfortable poster of their deity and pay homage to THEMSELVES!

 

ARE YOU MERELY PRAYING? OR ARE YOU REALLY L-O-V-I-N-G JESUS? DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO LOVE??? DO YOU ALLOW GOD TO BE "UNSAFE"? I have allowed Him in mine...BUT THE REWARDS ARE BOUNDLESSSSSS!!!  HE HAS CAUSED ME TO BLOOM AND FLOWER, AND RELEASE ME TO MY GREATEST POTENTIAL (and a joy that surpasses all understanding)---BUT WITH IT, HE RISKED ME TO FACE MY GREATEST PERIL... I've discovered then, that life's greatest adventures would take you to a roller coaster ride with this "unsafe God", that is, of saying yes to God's will! :)

 

NOW, WILL YOU TRULY WORSHIP THE UNSAFE GOD? TRULY LOVING JESUS IS NOT SAFE BUT HE IS SATISFYING! ^^,

I really like the idea of God being 'unsafe' and 'dangerous'. One of the central tenants of Christianity is that people can (indeed must) change. This is a painful unpleasant process, and it's something that many of the 'Yeah Jesus" churches around me seem to avoid out of fear of losing contributors, I mean, parishioners. Thanks for sharing.
