Secondary Narrative Conventions

2. Character Development

3. Mood

4. Voice

1. Tone " The tone of narration deeply impacts how the reader perceives the plat, characters, and emotions. The tone is influenced by the context and the demand of the character. It can be at a time romantic, persuasive, angry, or peaceful, depending upon the situation. The use of the right tone at the right moment makes the story more interesting and leaves a mark on the reader's mind. In third-person narration, the tone is usually neutral, whereas, in first-person narration, his tone is dynamic based on the instance.

2. Character Development " This is how the writer progresses the characters in the story. It should be impactful such that each character holds a strong position and perfectly fit into the prototype. They should be able to connect with the reader and put life into the story. Character development needs to be systematic and appropriate as per the requirement of the plot.

3. Mood " Mood and tone go hand in hand. The mood is the overall atmosphere of the narrative, which is created using the right tones and characterization. Usually, imagery and descriptive language create the perfect mood that aptly conveys the author’s intention. The mood in a narrative is responsive to evoke a particular feeling in the reader and induce emotions like anger, excitement, love, etc.

4. Voice " The voice of the narration is what runs throughout irrespective of the character changes. It is the core that the author wishes to convey and guides the characters as per his voice. It can be termed as the theme whose purpose is to reach correctly to the targeted audience.

Here we have discussed the secondary narrative conventions in detail. Although they are used at limited places compared to primary conventions, they are still vital to the narrative.
