Beginning Of The End Scene 2

This is the next part of my screenplay. Hope you enjoy it!

CUT TO:

We are SOARING over the OCEAN. The WAVES SMASH against rocks
and then a CRUISER YACHT comes into view. We ZOOM DOWN on it
and we are -



INT. CRUISER YACHT - NIGHT

A man is SAILING the yacht. He looks DESPERATE. He looks
FRIGHTENED.

This is ROBERT.

Robert SPINS AROUND and STARES at a YOUNG BLONDE HEADED BOY
on the floor.

This is HENRY.

Henry is whiter than sheep wool. His eyes are CLOSED SHUT.

ROBERT
Not that far now buddy, hang in
there!

An ISLAND comes into view. SCARY. DARK. This is RAPTURE.

And then we -

CUT TO:



EXT. FOREST, RAPTURE - NIGHT

It is DARK, COLD. A STORM is FAST APPROACHING. Temperature
DROPS RAPIDLY.

Rain LASHES DOWN on the ground.

Robert walks into view - CARRYING Henry in his arms.

The castle can be VAGUELY SEEN in the distance. Its windows
are SMASHED. Its rocks are CRUMBLING and its wooden doors are
full of CRACKS and TERMITE ROT.

A CABIN comes into view. NEWLY BUILT, the CLEANEST building
on the entire island. Robert STAGGERS over to it.



INT. CABIN, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Robert enters the cabin with Henry in his arms.

The inside is completely BARREN. All that is there is ONE
WOODEN TABLE.

Robert TRAIPSES past the table and into another door on the
opposite side of the cabin.



INT. CABIN, BEDROOM, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

There is a BED in the centre of the room. Robert takes Henry
and LAYS him down on it, trying to be CAREFUL.

This causes Henry to WAKE UP. He GENTLY OPENS his eyes and
STARES at Robert.

ROBERT
Hey there buddy, how are you
feeling?

Henry SETTLES up on the bed. His eyes are SAD.

HENRY
I feel bad daddy..
(coughs)
I feel so bad!

Robert FAKES a smile. Then PERCHES on the edge of the bed.

ROBERT
Hopefully that is going to change
soon.

Henry LOOKS UP, intrigued.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
The reason we are here is because I
found somebody who holds the cure
to you. He says that he has
developed a drug that can cure any
dying person. 'Change the world'
was his exact words.

Henry YANKS his blanket over his head, FRIGHTENED.

HENRY
No, please! No more drugs daddy!

Robert GLARES at Henry, CONFUSED.

He WRAPS his arms around Henry, HOLDING HIM TIGHTLY.

ROBERT
What's wrong buddy? This could save
your life!

HENRY
I am so scared, i am scared of the
drugs.. The needles.. I am just
scared this is going to fail again!

Robert SQUEEZES Henry tighter.

ROBERT
I know that you are scared. Hell we
are all afraid of something!
What you have to do is face your
fear and not let it define you.
Once you have confronted it, you
can beat it and then we can get
through this. Promise me you will
try, son?

Henry's face of fear TURNS into a SMILE.

HENRY
I promise daddy.

Robert PUSHES HIMSELF to his feet, GRABS Henry's hand.

ROBERT
Let's get something to eat before
we have to do this.

He helps Henry to his feet and they both make their way OUT
of the room.



INT. CABIN, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Robert WALKS out of the door, Henry FOLLOWS but he TOPPLES
over.

Robert QUICKLY RUNS to him, HELPING HIM STAND.

ROBERT
I have you, don't worry!

As he HELPS Henry STAND UPRIGHT, something from OUTSIDE the
window CATCHES HIS ATTENTION.

Robert APPROACHES the window but there is NOTHING. Robert
stands there, INQUISITIVE.

Then suddenly - BANG!

A LOUD KNOCK is heard. Robert begins to HINDER, as does
Henry.

FEAR is in both of their eyes.

BANG! BANG! BANG! More knocks happen at the door. Robert
becomes ALARMED.

A VOICE from outside CALMS Robert and Henry.

MAN
Open up the door, it's me. It is
freezing out here!

A look of RELIEF is on both of their faces. Robert LAUGHS and
HEADS FOR THE DOOR.

Robert OPENS the door but - SMASH!

The door BURSTS open and in CHARGING is the man from the
castle.

Robert COLLAPSES to the ground.

MAN (CONT'D)
Where is it?

Robert who is SPRAWLED out on the ground, looks BEWILDERED.

ROBERT
What is.. Where is what?

MAN
Don't play dumb with me! WHERE IS
THE DRUG?

Roberts eyes WIDEN.

ROBERT
Listen to me, I have no idea what
you're talking about, if you just
lower the--

MAN
DO NOT F*****G LIE TO ME! I KNOW
YOU HAVE IT SO TELL ME WHERE IT IS
OR I WILL PUT A BULLET IN YOUR SONS
HEAD! YOU HAVE FIVE SECONDS!
(pause)
1...
(pause)
2...

BANG! There is a loud GUNSHOT. The man DROPS to the floor,
DEAD.

Robert SPINS around with a GRIMACING look but soon SMILES as
he recognizes the person.

Charles is stood there with a SMOKING GUN.

In his hand, there is a METAL CASE with a FINGERPRINT SCANNER
built into it.

Robert RISES, HOLDING his ribs in pain.

ROBERT
Man, am I glad to see you! What was
his problem?

CHARLES
Dying wife, i think he got a bit
desperate.

ROBERT
But why not save his wife? I'm sure
there is enough stuff to go around.

CHARLES
Oh don't you worry, she will be
getting special treatment up at the
castle. Don't you worry, this
should work on your boy.

Robert FACES Charles, CONFUSED.

ROBERT
It should!?
(scoffs)
You told me this was a sure thing!

CHARLES
No, i told you that it hadn't been
tested before and that it might
work! We are however pretty certain
it is going to do what we designed
it to do. Have faith.

Charles ENTERS the cabin. He WALKS to the table and GENTLY
PLACES the metal case down.

He PRESSES his finger down on the FINGERPRINT SCANNER and
there is a BEEPING noise. The case then UNLOCKS.

There is a little MOAN. This catches Charles ATTENTION.

Henry is HIDING behind the table.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Hey kiddo. No need to be afraid, we
are all friends here.

Henry RISES. He LEANS against the table to keep his balance.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Are you ready for this?

SILENCE.

Henry STARES at Robert, STARES at Charles and then gives a
very UNCONVINCING NOD. Charles chooses to IGNORE this.

Charles TURNS BACK to the metal case and OPENS it.

As it OPENS, there is a slight GLOW coming from inside.

Charles RAISES a STEEL VIAL from the case. There is one word
ENGRAVED onto it:

"DUMENZA"

Robert takes a PEEK at the vial.

ROBERT
Dumenza? Strange name for a drug,
don't you think?

Charles let's out a FAKE LAUGH.

CHARLES
It's my second name, Robert. I
think I have the right to name it
after myself since I'm the one who
developed it.

There is an AWKWARD SILENCE. Robert takes a PEEK inside of
the case and sees a needle.

ROBERT
(awkwardly)
Is that the needle you're using?

Robert LOWERS his head after realizing what he just said.

Charles FACES his, SHAKES his head.

CHARLES
Yes, it's the only f*****g needle
there!

ROBERT
Listen to me you obnoxious little
s**t, don't speak to me like that
in front of my son!

CHARLES
(laughing)
Calm down man, I was joking! Let's
get this over with.

Robert takes a STEP BACK, FURIOUS.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Come over here Henry.

Henry HOBBLES over to Charles but he FALLS OVER, Charles
CATCHES him and LOWERS him onto the floor.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
I want you to lift up your shirt.

Henry RAISES his shirt, right up to his chin.

Charles TAKES OUT a black magic marker and her DRAWS an X on
his chest, right where his heart is.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
This is going to be injected
directly into your heart.

Without any WARNING, Charles STABS the needle DIRECTLY into
Henry's heart.

Henry SCREAMS in agony and GRIPS a hold of his fathers hand.

An EGG like shape FORMS inside of the needle before being
INJECTED.

Henry TURNS COLD.

CUT TO:



INT. THRONE ROOM, CASTLE - CONTINUOUS

Its QUIET.

The room is EMPTY. But a man HIDDEN out of view STANDS up
from the throne. Salazar.

Two men ENTER the room and MARCH up to him.

MAN 1
They have arrived, sir. They have
all agreed to do it.

Salazar SMILES.

SALAZAR
Good. Charles should be back soon
and we will have the results from
the testing. Prep the subjects for
conversion.

The men NOD then they LEAVE the room.

Salazar TREADS to a set of LARGE DOORS and OPENS them up. We
are now -



EXT. BALCONY, CASTLE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Rain LASHES down all over.

We are OVERLOOKING the entire island from the infrastructure.

We can SEE: FOREST, VILLAGE, LAKE.

SALAZAR (V.O.)
Pretty soon the world will be mine.
The entire population will bow down
at my feet..

We ZOOM down the balcony and into the dark forest -

SALAZAR (V.O.)
And those who refuse will be
eradicated from existence.

We ZOOM in on the cabin and we are back -



INT. CABIN, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Henry is LAYING there on the floor, SILENT.

There is TENSION in the room but Henry begins to RISE UP.

HENRY
(excited)
Daddy, i think it is working. I
feel so much better!

There is a lot of EXCITEMENT. Robert HUGS Henry and KISSES
Charles's forehead.

ROBERT
Thank you for everything, Charles!
You are my life saver!

HENRY
And mind... literally!

Charles does an EVIL SMILE. He PUSHES himself back to his
feet, PLACES the Dumenza back inside of the case and TAKES
the case over to the door.

CHARLES
(whisper)
Just you wait.

Henry begins to FLUCTUATE and suddenly COLLAPSES to the
floor. He starts to CONVULSE.

ROBERT
Henry? HENRY!?
(to Charles)
Charles, quickly.. Do something,
this stuff is killing him!

Charles SNICKERS.

CHARLES
Oh believe me, it is doing the
complete opposite. He is being
converted. Did you believe that i
was going to let you leave here
alive? You were nothing but a test
dummy, we needed a lab rat and you
were stupid enough to accept. Your
son will soon become like the
creatures my brother and I have
longed to create, I am afraid that
you don't have such luxury.

Charles takes out a HANDGUN. He DIRECTS it at Roberts.

ROBERT
What the hell are you doing?
(yells)
STOP THIS!

CHARLES
I am turning him. Pretty soon he
will become immortal, he will
become a monster, an animal. He
will become an Umbra. The best
hunters this word will ever witness
and the new race of humans.

Henry's eyes begin to go BLOODSHOT.

ROBERT
I am going to stop you, you are
evil. I will not let my son become
like you!

Charles FIXES his eyes at Henry and then he SIGHS.

CHARLES
So be it, have it your way.

ROBERT
Thank y-

BANG! Charles BLASTS hole in Henry's head and KILLS HIM.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
NOOOOO!

Robert BURSTS into tears.

He FALLS to his knees and NOTICES the bullet case on the
floor.

Robert PICKS it up, LAUNCHES it at Charles and causes him to
STUMBLE back.

Then Robert CHARGES at Charles, SMASHES the gun from his hand
and STARTS PUNCHING him RAPIDLY, until he is KNOCKED OUT.

Robert PICKS UP the handgun, AIMS it at Charles and PULLS the
trigger.

BANG! Straight through his eye.

Robert STUMBLES over to his sons dead body.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
I am so sorry, i should have
listened to you..
(breaks down)
You didn't want this, i am sorry!

The sound of MUMBLING can be heard. Charles COMES TO.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
I killed you...

Robert SPRINTS for the door, he GRABS the case and LEAVES the
cabin.



EXT. FOREST, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Robert COWARDS behind a large tree.

The sound of the cabin door can be heard SLAMMING shut and
then the sound of a VOICE.

CHARLES
Where are you running too? You
can't hide from me, Robert. You
can't hide from the inevitable.

Robert doesn't reply. He starts to PANIC as Charles is AT
HAND.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Come and face me. Don't die like a
coward, your son would laugh at
you.

Robert takes these words in. His face goes from a SCARED look
to a more ANTAGONIZED look.

Charles begins to ADVANCE on the tree where Robert is hiding
behind. He CLINCHES the case tight in his grasp.

As he APPROACHES the tree, Robert ABRUPTLY SMACKS the case
off of Charles's head, causing him to SMASH to the floor.

ROBERT
That's for my boy!

Robert then STOMPS on his face.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
And that is for my temper!

He then PLUNGES INTO the dark forest.

CUT TO:



EXT. FOREST, RAPTURE - MOMENTS LATER

We are SPEEDING through the forest. Going AROUND trees and
UNDER branches. We are LOOKING THROUGH the eyes of Robert.

A SIGN comes into view. The words STAND OUT. They read:

"Welcome to Rapture, where the impossible happens!"

Charles RISES from the floor, SMIRKS.

CHARLES
So there is a little fight in him.
Could use a guy like that!
(laughs)
Shame he has to die.

Charles RUSHES through the forest after Robert.

Robert however ENTERS through a set of LARGE GATES. We are
then -



EXT. VILLAGE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

The village is like a BARREN WASTELAND. EMPTY. QUIET. Not a
soul in sight.

Tools lay SCATTERED along the floor. SHOVELS. RAKES.

Robert PICKS UP a SHOVEL and BARGES through a door to one of
the houses in the village.



INT. HOUSE, VILLAGE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

As he ENTERS the building, Robert POSITIONS the shovel in
front of the door to keep it JARRED SHUT.

Robert LEANS against the door to CATCH HIS BREATH.

CUT TO:



EXT. VILLAGE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Charles has now REACHED the village. He SURVEYS the village
in search for Robert.

He SHUTS his eyes. It all goes QUIET. Then we hear the sound
of a FAINT HEARTBEAT. Charles SMILES.

He TURNS his head and FACES the house that Robert is in.

CHARLES
Gotchya...

CUT BACK TO:



INT. HOUSE, VILLAGE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Robert takes a PEEK out of a crack in the door and he
REALIZES that Charles is WALKING to the house he is in.

CHARLES (O.S.)
Are you going to come out and face
me or am i going to have to come in
there and kill you?

SILENCE.

CUT TO:



EXT. VILLAGE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Charles attempts to OPEN up the door, he FAILS.

As he continues to try, he gets more ANGRY. He BOOTS the door
and then TURNS AROUND.

We TURN with him and a SHED comes into view. Charles MARCHES
towards it.

Charles OPENS the shed. On the table there is a tool. A
DANGEROUS tool. A CHAIN SAW.

CUT TO:



INT. HOUSE, VILLAGE, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

VROOM! VROOM! The sound of the chain saw starting can be
heard. Robert takes another LOOK THROUGH the crack.

ROBERT
No, no! Need to get out of here..
(pause)
Upstairs!

Robert SPRINTS up the stairs. There are TWO WINDOWS.

One of them is at the FRONT, the other is at the BACK. The
one at the BACK drops to a smaller roof.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
(laughs)
My escape route!

CRACK! SMASH! The sound of the chain saw DESTROYING the door
downstairs can be heard.

Robert FREEZES on the spot for a moment. Then manages to
FORCE himself to OPEN the window and climb out of it.

Robert LEAPS from the window onto the SMALLER ROOF but as he
LANDS on it - SMASH!

The roof CAVES IN. Robert FALLS straight through it.

CHARLES (O.S.)
Do you hear this? This is the sound
of inevitability. This is the sound
of your death!

The door to the house BREAKS DOWN. Charles RUNS up the stairs
and NOTICES the COLLAPSED ROOF.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
I know exactly where that leads to,
i have you now!

Charles BAILS down the stairs and out of the front door.

CUT TO:



INT. TUNNELS, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

DARKNESS.

The sound of GRUNTING and MOANS of PAIN. Following is the
sound of HEAVY BREATHING.

Suddenly - LIGHT! A row of lights TURN ON inside of the
tunnels and Robert is LAYING on the ground.

The tunnels are OLD. COBWEBS COVER them. The AUTOMATIC LIGHTS
stand out.

Robert STANDS to his feet, HOLDING his ribs in PAIN.

Writing and an ARROW on the wall STANDS OUT. It reads:

"THE DOCKS ->"

Robert FOLLOWS the writing and the arrow.

CUT TO:



INT. CASTLE/THRONE ROOM, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Salazar is SAT back on the throne, IMPATIENT.

SALAZAR
(shouts)
MEN! GET IN HERE, NOW!

TWO MEN QUICKLY RUN into the room, SCARED.

MAN 1
(shaking)
Yes, sir?

SALAZAR
Something is wrong, Charles should
have been back by now. Send out the
hounds.

CUT TO:



EXT. CASTLE/GATES, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

The gates to the castle CREAK OPEN. GROWLING can be heard.

Coming out of the gates are - CONVERTED HOUNDS. No FUR on
their bodies, BONES STICKING OUT of their skin. RED EYES.

Three hounds RUN for towards the village.

CUT TO:



INT. TUNNELS, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Robert is HALFWAY through the tunnels.

He PLACES a SOFT STEP on the ground and a MECHANICAL CLUNK is
heard.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Explosions coming from behind Robert BEGIN
to happen.

Robert SCAMPERS down the tunnels, the explosions GAINING on
him.



INT. TUNNELS, RAPTURE - MOMENTS LATER

A LIGHT at the end of the tunnels APPEAR but as it gets
CLOSER, so does the EXPLOSIONS.

There is one final BLAST. The FORCE THROWS Robert out of the
tunnels.



EXT. DOCKS, RAPTURE - CONTINUOUS

Robert lands FACE FIRST into the MUD. The metal case FLIES
into the air and LANDS on the ground. Next to some FEET.

Charles is STOOD there. He gives a SMUG SMILE. He PICKS the
case up.

Robert PUSHES himself to his feet and GLARES at Charles.

CHARLES
I told you there is no way off of
this island.
And like i said to you before, Mr.
Smith, you do not have the luxury
of joining us. Even if you would
like too.

ROBERT
(spits)
I'd rather die!

CHARLES
I'd rather you die too.

GROWLING. The hounds walk up behind Charles.

Roberts eyes WIDEN. AFRAID.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Sic him boys.

The hounds CHARGE at Robert.

Charles SHOUTS over the sound of the GROWLING HOUNDS.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
WELCOME TO MY NEW EMPIRE!

The hounds LEAP at Robert and we FADE TO BLACK.

SCREAMING.

Then everything goes SILENT.
