DarknessA Poem by hoganAn attempt to describe how good things cannot last, and moreWhen you wander in open, lush green fields of grass When shadows, that cannot be cast, are at their shortest You feel safe as the intensity of cool colours make an
easy pass Towards the horizon, is a forest dark, the shadows you
detest Even though the light you’re immersed in Bleaches, dries and withers; forbids you to stare Directly at its radiant, streams that burn your skin Sometimes you turn upwards to catch a glance, but cannot
bear the glare The comfort does not last, with time the fiery furnace Descends towards the detested gloom of the forest The shadows creeping, long strangling arms close in earnest Reaching their dark, sucking tentacles , ready to digest And draw out of me the pleasure of the protective light The shadows become lost in the encompassing blackness The day had its bright climax, but has descended to night Now all that is around me, is hidden, in the darkness © 2012 hoganAuthor's Note
