Soul Mates Think In Pink

Soul Mates Think In Pink

A Chapter by Linklin

"Oh my, gosh just look at her!"

            "Can you be like serious?"

            "Is she actually staying here?"

            "Wonder what ability she has."

"Um durr, the power of ugly."

They giggled endlessly pointing with their crooked boney fingers. "Bubblegum bimbos…" I muttered under my breath, a comment Xavier heard for his lips cracked a slight smile.

I think I know exactly who to put you with. He mind spoke to me.

Even tho he mind spoke to me all the while on the plane, it still brings shivers up my spine. It was amazing how calm I feel. Without a thought I had left my house, family, friends, and school, to go off with a man I did not know. How did he know where I was? And how did he convince my step-mom and dad? How did he know I was a- … I had … abilities? His telepathy and telekinesis only got him so far, unless he has another power I have yet to know about. Wouldn't surprise me.

"We're here." We had reached a light brown dorm room door. "Rouge, I'm coming in." Xavier preceded forward the door opening for him. "I've brought someone to meet you."

The girl Rouge was not what I had expected. Where I live it was always hot and everyone wore Hollister or Abercrombie and Fitch. All the girls where tan, blonde and all the boys were surfies.  I was no different than the rest; I was the top of the top. Homecoming Queen my freshman year and I have only ever dated hot Varsity Seniors. I was beautiful, rich, and smart. I had everything. The highest grades in the school, luscious long brown hair and sparkling green eyes, bright shiny black BMW convertible, (3 actually the others are green and silver) and I am Captain of the Varsity Compete Dance Team. I was a goddess among mortals.  That life has ended. I no longer danced, no longer had ravishing long brown hair. No longer did I have the power of the purse. I had to rely on me. A new me, one I didn't even know.

Rouge looked at me skeptically. "Are you sure, Professor? This doesn't seem wise to put a nub with me."

"You two will do fine together. Saffron," he pulled me forward to meet Rouge. "Meet Rouge, Rouge is an interesting mutant. She has the power to-"

            "Suck you dry."

I took a step back. "Saffron, don't be afraid. Rouge can only do so if she touches you. She saps power or life energy on skin contact."

That at least explains the coverage, but why all baggy and black?

"And what do you do?" her gaze pierced me.

I stumbled searching for words, for after not speaking for two weeks it was hard to find them again and she intimidated. Which was unusual for anyone to intimidate me, so why this Goth?

"Nature, plant life to be specific. I must be off, please show her the ropes." Then Xavier was gone and I was left alone with this freak.

Rouge came forward and I backed up. Glaring at me she grabbed two of my duffels and chucked them on the second bed, next to the window and then stormed out. Gripping my Gucci purse and backpack I went to the bed.

The room was really quite empty. Only two beds with a rug separating them, with side tables on either side. A desk against the wall near the foot of each bed, a small TV was between the desks, one tiny closet and a table. It felt like a motel not a school. There were a few clothes on Rouge's bed and one poster of some heavy metal band over top of the side table. The same kind of lamp was sitting on both the desk and the side table. The desk was clean. The only window in the room was covered by a black drape. This girl it seemed did not like the sun. This is too tiny and cramped. I can hardly believe that I am expected to live here. This is crazy. I definitely need to go shopping.

Amazingly enough I didn't bring all that much with me, seeing as that I am supposed to be living here now. I pulled my pillow out of my bag and the matching blanket and arranged them on the bed. There. Now it looks better. Taking out a few family pictures and placing them on the side table I could finally breathe. It's going to be alright. I plugged my phone in and set some books on the desk next to my laptop and I-pod. My DVD collection went against the wall next to my desk and a cushion on the seat. Why I brought the cushion I don't know but I made good use of it. Now it was on to my other duffle. That was full of clothes. Where am I supposed to put these? I shoved a few garments in the side table and decided to place the rest un-hang-able items under the bed until I could find a place for them, but underneath was two sets of drawers. That's better, I thought after putting the rest of my clothes away and the dresses and shirts hanging up. I felt a bit bad because Rouge on had two things hanging up and I kind of took over the rest of the area. I really hope she doesn't have any more things in the wash.

The only things left were my purse and pack. All my pack had in it was a notebook, my stuffed duck and my bathroom supplies, aka, hairdryer, shampoo, soap, toothbrush and paste, brush, straightener, conditioner, and tons of clips and such, plus tons of makeup. Leaving my purse on my side table I put my debit card in my pocket and decided to explore seeing if anyone was willing to take me to the mall.

Just as I was walking out the door Rouge appeared. She took one look at my work and scowled. She obviously didn't like my pink decorating. Grabbing a bag out of a desk drawer she scurried out. No points for guessing the color of the bag. I shook my head. We're going to have to work on that.

Xavier's school was huge and there were a great many people in it. For the most part they really didn't notice me other than the usual weird looks because I'm the new kid. Or is it because of my hair?

"Hi there!" A bouncy brunette waved coming out of a room. "You must be new. My name's Kitty Pryde." I nodded. "What's your name?" I opened my mouth then scrunched up my face biting my lip. "Don't you talk?" she laughed. I looked away from her eyes.

Not anymore. I don't talk anymore. I just can't. Not yet at least.

The smile on her face brightened. "Well if you don't talk I can talk for you. You just let me know what you need and I'll translate! Ok? We're going to be best friends! But first I need to figure out your name." She put her hand to her chin.  "Hmmmm let's see. Alex?"

I shook my head.

"Jasmine?"

Head shake.

"Penelope?"

I snorted.

She thought for a moment. "I guess we're just going to have you write it down." She entered her room again. I kind of like this Kitty. She's really nice and active. Kitty came back with a pink notebook and sparkly fabric pink pen. Ok, we are so best friends now, she has great taste. "Go ahead." She handed me the paper and pen. I scribbled my name and the comment on her pink taste. "Saffron Parks? Ok, Saffron I can definitely tell we are like totally soul mates. Want to go to the mall?"

I nodded vigorously. This girl is great. I didn't even have to motion anything or write it down.

This is neat. I'm not used to this whole fantasy type of writing. I've only gotten into things like this since I read Twilight [not that this relates to it at all, just saying]. I'm interested to read more. I like the characters and your writing is wonderful. I'm looking forward to a new post :]
