Breaking Up & Standing Still

Breaking Up & Standing Still

A Poem by Linklin

When I saw you standing there,

It took me by surprise.

But then when your eyes glanced my way

I didn’t know what to do…

I can’t believe after all this time…

I’m still in love with …you?

My heart beats rapidly,

As quickly as a mouse’s.

I’m so afraid I can’t move,

I’m a frozen statue in Antarctica,

Staring out at you…

When you started coming this way,

I did a spring board jump outa my skin.

Your piercing eyes scared my face…

My heart sinking in quick sand,

The more I try to move the faster I sink…

I gasp for breath,

You’re the closest you’ve been for a while.

Your arms reached out to hold me,

How I longed and dreaded this time.

I braced myself for impact,

As you kissed some other girl…

Heartfelt, most all our poems and stories are the best from what we feel as it happens in what I'm guessing as this was inspired and written as an outlet of reality. Very nice! Thank you for sharing.

Liked how you brought this to an end.
