Winter Nights

Winter Nights

A Poem by ForLackOfPaper
"

A couple of views of a cold, winter night.

"
Darkness all around me,
wind howling in despair.
Ferocious beasts are sleeping
deep within their lair.

A rat is trapped beneath a rock,
it’s shrieking fills the air.
An owl swoops down and snatches it,
but no-one seems to care.

--------

I sit by the hearth
in a soft cushioned chair,
with a book in hand
`bout a shadow black mare.

Although drops of water
drip down from my hair,
and though sun’s not shining,
I’m at peace, I don’t care
