The Ritual is Sacred When the Pen and Cat Have Been Fed: Quirks of writing.

A Story by darkstar wolf
"

A homework assignment for an online course at Duke University called: 'English Composition 1: Achieving Expertise' through Coursera. It was on what rituals and quirks go into the preparation for Art!

"
I read a cool quote somewhere from a writer that basically said no matter how much procrastination is involved and in what form(s) it manifests itself; it is all part of the (writing) process of purveying the necessary head space to cultivate a momentum and spark to begin spinning the yarn of an idea.
My rituals include varying degrees of preparation in terms of whether or not a deadline is involved. If there is, I usually leave everything I'll need out on my desk in neat, organized piles; sort of like ingredients for a recipe or materials for a blueprint. Very Feng S hue' I hope.
There is always music; classical/jazz/rock and all it's various shades is always permeating the air of the office as I pace and rant incessantly . I will also put on something to watch that might be described as a healthy distraction-news, anime; anything that when payed attention to, is not a distraction but just another stream of data informing the work. Ya dig?
Of course my cat has to be placated to the point of wanting to hang out: If she is fed, petted and well napped, she will either sit on my shoulder or on my desk, watching me intently for any chance at consideration in the form of sympathetic looks that sometimes border on genuine pity. Then I know I am acting so weird that even something that spends it happiest moments chasing invisible bubbles is intrigued to the point of absurdity

Applause, is awesome, I like the cat part, actually all of it. The following line from the writing "Then I know I am acting so weird that even something that spends it happiest moments chasing invisible bubbles is intrigued to the point of absurdity " sounds like steam from thinking too much rather than just getting to it, sort of procastination? Good work.
