Chapter 6-Fay

Chapter 6-Fay

A Chapter by Dark Reaper

Fay watched as Ryan ran to the castle wall and scaled the ladder within three strides. Fay followed and saw Ryan looking over the fields in anger. His eyes blazing purple.

She tried to look where he was looking but didn't need to. She could see it. Fires were being lit all over the surrounding villages. An army of Demon Spawn had broken through the southern defenses.

The guards on the walls held bows and began firing vollies of arrows toward the endless hordes. One of them blew a war horn and a deep bellowing sound resonated from it.

She turned to see an army of soldiers massing in the courtyard. (Maybe the size of the courtyard wasn't fully explained. Imagine a giant square of stone surrounded by a stone wall, all of this is the size of a football stadium.) Hundreds of soldiers lined up with short swords and javelins. The King stood in front of them talking to them.

"The hordes have broken through the southern defenses. They are massing in the villages in the fields. They are on their way here. What will you do?!" shouted the King.

"DEFEND OUR HOME!" roared the soldiers in return.

"How will you do it?!"

"WITH COURAGE AND VALOR!"

"THEN GET OUT THERE AND DO IT!"

The castle gate opened and the masses of soldiers stampeded out of the courtyard. She saw the archers on the wall fire another volly. This time with fire arrows. She watched the sparkling tips fly over her and into the horde of Demon Spawn.

She saw that Ryan was gone. She looked over the wall and saw him. He was in front of the soldiers. But he held his hands out to stop the soldiers. He then turned to the dark spawn. He held his hand out facing away from himself and toward the horde. Black smoke flowed from his sleeves and floated across the ground at the speed of a horse and slipped under the horde. Then a purple light flared around Ryan and it shot into the sky. A huge pillar of purple light shooting up into the clouds. And with a yell thousands of Demon Spawn were sucked into the smoke. When the black smoke receded back into Ryan's sleeves only their weapons remained. Then Ryan shouted, "NOW!"

The mass of soldiers charged the staggering front lines of Demon Spawn. Fay ran down the ladder and out the front gate toward Ryan. He was tired and weary. When Fay arrived Ryan fell to his knees. She placed her hand on his chest and her hand glowed blue. She looked up to see the soldiers tearing through the front lines. But then the ground shook making all combat in the valley cease.

Storm clouds were forming above the mountains. These clouds were pure jet black. Red lightning struck the mountains under it. Then came a voice. A deep thundering voice.

"RYAN MASON!"

Ryan's head slowly drifted to face the storm.

"WE HAVE NO QUARREL WE ONLY WANT THE GIRL."

Ryan stood and held his hands spread eagled in front of Fay.

"You will not take her!"

"DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME YOU DEFIED ME BOY?!"

Ryan staggered back and his face was contorted in shock. Tears flowed from his eyes.

"YES BOY I REMEMBER WELL!"

Ryan wiped the tears from his eyes and looked defiantly at the storm.

"YOU STILL DEFY ME!" roared the voice in the clouds, "WELL THEN BOY I WILL GIVE YOU UNTIL SUNSET TOMORROW TO DECIDE,IF YOU STILL DEFY ME THEN I WILL UNLEASH ALL OF HELL UPON THAT CASTLE, IF I CAN'T HAVE HER NOW I WILL TAKE HER FROM YOU!"

The storm stopped moving and red thunder flashed across the clouds. The Demon Spawn turned and retreated to the mountains.

Fay looked up at Ryan and saw his face raw with anger. The soldiers began walking back to the castle, no lives were lost. She stood and walked to Ryan. He looked up at her in sadness.

"I'm sorry but i'm not letting them take you, I will not go back on my word to protect y-"

Fay put her finger to his lips and said, " I understand."

When Ryan and Fay arrived back at the castle the soldiers looked at Ryan in amazement. Blake looked as if he had just proven something. And the king looked at him with worry.

The king approached Ryan and said, "Are you alright son?"

Ryan looked down and didn't answer.

The king nodded in an understanding way. Fay couldn't read his mind to see what was in his Ryan's head. The king put his hand on Fay's shoulder and shook his head. Confused Fay shrugged her shoulders.

What did her father know that Fay couldn't figure out?

Blake strode forward and said, "Do you see my lord he cannot be trusted, he is a Reaper, don't you see he could end us all!"

"I know what he is Blake, that does not change the fact that my daughter trusts him, I trust him now, he took down thousands of Demon Spawn in a matter of seconds, he stood in front of them to protect my daughter."

"THIS PIECE OF FILTH IS GOING TO GET U-"

Blake was cut off as Fay punched him so hard that he staggered backward with a broken nose. Blake stood straight and reached for his sword.

In a second Ryan was there holding Blake off the ground by his neck. A man in barely anything holding a man in full armor off the ground like a toy. Blake choked and coughed as Ryan tightened his grip.

"Ryan that is enough son." the King placed his hand on Ryan's shoulder.

Ryan set him down on the ground where he collapsed to his knees. Ryan crouched to his level and said, "if you try that again...no king will stop what you have coming."

Blake staggered to his feet and stumbled away.

"Ryan will you escort Fay to bed and then come speak to me in the hall?" the Kind asked.

"Of course!" Ryan answered.

Ryan and Fay walked to the doors to the hall. On the left the doorway that led to the stairs. He let Fay go up first and followed her the rest of the way to her room. She went and layed down in the bed.

"Ryan." Fay said as Ryan began to turn away, "Thank you."

"I did what was needed." Ryan said smiling.

"Will you come back and maybe..."

"Maybe what?"

F:You KNOW what stupid.

"Ooooooooooooh....OK...I understand...and yea..." Ryan said blushing.

"Good." Fay said smiling with a twinge of red in her cheeks.

"Wait are you sure?"

"Why wouldn't I?"

"I mean you are a princess..."

"I choose to do it with whomever I wish."

R:I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE WANTS TO--

F:Stop thinking so loud.

With a bow Ryan turned and jogged to the stairs. He heard her giggle as he decended the stairs. He saw the King standing looking at a stained glass window portraying a blue haired angel carring a blue haired baby.On the ground was a white haired young man.

"She is the daughter of an angel isn't she?" Ryan inquired.

"Yes...she is..." the king said sadly.

"How did she..."

"She took a sword for me...shortly after Fay was born..."

"I'm...sorry...does Fay know?"

"She knows her mother died a heroic death...nothing more..."

"Is this what you wanted to speak to me about?"

"No...I must ask a favor of you..."

"Anything King Joeseph..."

"Call me Joeseph..."

"Anything...Joeseph..."

"...I am aware of how intamate you and Fay's relationship is getting even though you have only known her for two days..."

Ryan blushed.

"...I must ask you to take her far away from here before sunset tomorrow..."

"But King-Joeseph...we can win with my powers-"

"You almost died using your powers that time Fay barely had enough time to save you..."

Ryan looked down.

Joeseph turned to Ryan. "We will slow them down...we will not be able to hold out forever...maybe a week or two maybe three...heck maybe even a month if we are lucky...but you must not be here when they attack..."

Ryan looked up , "We will come back for you!"

"NO!" Joeseph demanded, "You will not!"

Ryan stopped.

"We will be long dead...I won't be able to convince my soldiers to leave they will die for me if necessary...you must take Fay into the north."

After a long silence Ryan said, "Understood..."

"Ryan..."Joeseph said making Ryan look up, "...be there for my daughter...she will need you..."

Ryan nodded and stood.

"Now go...be with her tonight..."

Ryan turned and walked toward the doorway. He looked up the stairs and walked up them. He went down the hall and saw Fay changing into her night gown in her room.Ryan walked in and saw her mischevious smile as he closed the door.
