shallow water

shallow water

A Poem by the darkest shadow

I try to take a breath
As my lungs fill up with shame
I’m drowning in my own sorrow
I’m dying of my own pain

The shallow water grows deeper
So deep that I can’t touch
My fingers start to slip
And I’m swept away in a rush

No one can hear me struggle
No one can see me sink
I’m dying here now
As the water turns pink

Quite a peaceful drowning. It seems full of acceptance. I like the phrasing, and the flow of this piece; it is like the water itself.
