Look at Me

Look at Me

A Poem by chandlerl

Open the wounds
and leave me bleeding.
Open the wounds,
but let me go.
Let me be, who I am.
Who I want and need to be.
Let the wounds heal
inside of me.

Oh God, if you're there
willing and listening,
heal the wounds
which bind me.
They placed them on my young flesh.
Help me, oh dear Lord, Help me.
To Live. To be. To see.

Look into my eyes
scarred by age
but still alive.
Look into my eyes
look into my eyes.

Stanch the blood
stop the bleeding.
Of my tattered soul inside.
Let me face tomorrow without fear
Fear of who and what I am to become.

Let me face tomorrow without fear
Fear of who and what I am to become.

A truth we all chew on and mutter to ourselves everyday.

Good job:) enjoyable and honest. Something is missing, but maybe that's just me. Either way good work.

I like the honest emotion and the directness of this poem.
"Stanch the blood
stop the bleeding.
Of my tattered soul inside."
Would be nice to be able to stop the memory of the pain and misery in a life. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
