A Boy

A Boy

A Poem by chandlerl

We found a boy
who looked to deploy
out of nowhere
he asked if we needed a night of repair.

To that we confessed
that we needed to rest.
He gave us a place
somewhere to stay.

We were impressed.
Though he seemed depressed.
When we asked what was wrong
he replied, he was lonely.

That he'd just lost his friend
and he asked if we'd be his.
He was quite charming
and we were so young.

So what else could we say
to this man who took us in,
but yes?
He turned around.

The sky turned gray
as clouds rushed in.
He turned to us
and his eyes grew a deep black.

So much so
that we became entranced.
He grinned
and his teeth grew sharp.

His black hair came in swoops
as he grew near.
As sweetly as a cactus he said,
Don't worry Dear,

You have nothing to fear...
