Regret

Regret

A Poem by chandlerl

I wake to the smell of coffee.
The time is 7 a.m.
Half my coffee- is mixed with liquor.
The bitterness and stinging heat goes down.
My heart burst into fire
and then all seems calm.
The shakes leave my hands
and everything feels right again,
as the addict- the creature inside,
shows the silver lining
a heavy load of regret
placed on my mind.
