Lost Boy

Lost Boy

A Poem by Shae-Leigh Johns

they tell me "these are the best years of your life"
that"I'll always remember them"
they didn't tell of the pain
they never spoke of the struggle
they hid my from the dark
always hiding in the light
all those days of childhood
of hopes and dreams
the days that turned into nights of peace
they read me all the stories
the taught me all the tales
painted me dream
of Never-Never Land
they called me a lost boy
I went along never knowing why
now I see the truth
for that's all I really am
a lost boy trying to find
Never-Never Land
Peter Pan is hiding
and Tinker Bell is nowhere to be found
even Captain Hook doesn't sail around
I really am a lost boy
trying to find a home
a place to lay my head
my heart it finds no rest
my soul it finds no peace
open up your book and see
under all the illustration
there is no happy ending
there's just an ending

Can relate so well to the shadows here, the darkness, the lostness in seeking the joys that seem to hide so well. Such a beautifully expressed sadness. xo

thank you I'm glad you liked it
Well written, love the nostalgic fairy tale feel. Ghost story vibe to a classic, and with a darker, sadder twist.
