Dear Lover,
You once knew me
I was shy 
I was quiet
I was innocent
I was yours

Dear Lover,
You once knew me
You kept me on you strings
You said that you cared 
I was yours

Dear Lover,
You once knew me
I took a chance 
I stopped the dance
Nevermore 
I was yours

I liked the repeated lines "You once knew me" and using "I was yours" showing that it had happened. It's in the past. It's a poem about the past to me.
