Zombie Apoc

It had finally happened. The on thing we all thought we would be ready for. Others said it would never happen. Where are they now? Dead. Or Undead. Which ever way you look at it. And those gamers. Who thought they were ready to protect their family and themselves? Killed off first. Sure. I sit around. And play video games most of the time. But I wasn't stupid enough to run head first into a crowd of mindless brain munchers. 

I stayed home. We lived on island. It would take months for the monsters to get to us. Or so I thought. You would think I wouldn't be worried. With most of us being vampires. That part wasn't the problem. It was my girl. She was the only human in the whole house. And we all knew they'd be after her. So I did the best thing I could. I trained her. Made sure she could protect herself if it came down to it. 

Within ten days of the virus being realsed. We had zombies trying to break into the house. Which ment. Everyone in town. Was either one of them. Or dead. We should have left sooner then we planned. But we thought we had more time. And now that I think about it. How long would it have been tell the virus reached where we moved to. And we couldn't be sure that it wouldn't effect Ashley. The rest of us were lucky. We were immortal. Couldn't be infected. So we stayed held up in our house. The best we could. The dogs did nothing but bark when they weren't doing other things. We kept Ashley in her room. For safety reasons. The rest of us. Did what we could to keep them away. We had enough food to last for awhile. But we were hoping it wouldn't have to come down to a trip into town. We didn't know what lurked there. 

I kept watch at the main entrance. Killed off any that got close. It was going great for awhile. Until a whole new heard of them came from nowhere. It was too many for me to handle. Even with help...

After I had taken out as many as I could. I called for a retreat and we ran into the house. Locked all the doors and checked on everyone. As I walked back to Ashley's room. I noticed something strange. Zeus and Tia were quiet. Maybe they were sleeping? Not with an attack like this. I ran quickly to her room. The only thought that ran through my mind: Oh god. Please no. 

"Ashley?" I called out as I walked into the room. She was sitting on the bed. Hugging her knees. I walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. She looked up at me. 

"I'm going to die? Aren't I?" She asked, tears in her eyes. 

"No. Your going to be fine. We all are. Were going to make it through this." I said trying to comfort her. 

"I really hope your right Jack.." She said laying down. I saw the dog were curled up with her. Looking just as scared as she was. I sighed and walked out of the room. 

"Were getting off this island.." I whispered as I went to the others. 

"Jack. We've got to get out of here. They are going to find a way into the house. And that will be it." Deo said upset. 

"I know. Get around your things. Anything you REALLY need. We dont need a bunch of baggage slowing down the boat. Just because they haven't tried. Doesn't mean they can't swim. I'm going to get Ash and the dogs around. And we are getting out of here." I said looking at each one of them. 

"What about the infection? It's airborne. She'll catch it." Deo said. 

"I've already thought of that. Don't worry. Just get your stuff. And meet me here." I said talking back to where Ashley was. 

"Come on babe. Grab the things you can't live without and let's go." I said. 

"Jack.. I can't go outside.." She said sitting up. 

"I have a mask for you to put over your face. You'll be fine." I said gather things. 

"You said a normal one would be useless." She said getting up. 

"That's why I made it to where nothing but clean air gets through. Trust me. You'll be safe. I wouldn't be doing this it I didn't know that." I said looking at her. She nodded and started grabbing some stuff. 

We grabbed the dogs and meet the others in the living room. 

"Ok. The boat is going to bring their attention to us. So I'm going to create a distraction and I want you guys to get to it as quickly as possible. And don't start it till I'm on." I said preparing. They nodded and started towards the back of the house. 

"Jack..." Ashley said. 

"I'll be fine baby. And when I get on that boat. We are heading start for Europe. Were going to live there happily. I promise." I said before kissing her and putting her mask on. 

"Go. I'll be there in a few." I said leaving. I went out the front door and did what I could to get their attention anywhere else then on the people moving towards the boat. Thankfully I was able to do it. Next step. Get to the boat and leave. 

I ran as fast as I could to the vessel and hopped on. It started and drove off quickly. Ashley hugged me tightly and we both watched the house disappearing in the distance. 

That was the only place I had actually ever felt home in. And those flesh eaters took it from me. If I didn't have enough reasons to hate zombies already...
