That Strange kid.A Story by KittenBy Ashley. This is the story I had to write for my biology class. It's kinda crappy. But whatever. I promised to post it. So yeah. (I hope I get a good grade.. >.<)We didn’t think much of it when they said we had a few new
students coming to the school. Most of
them were normal. A group of guys. That all lived together with their dad. Not
something to think twice about. Right? Or at least it would be. If it wasn’t
for the youngest son. He had a
few. Genetic differences then rest of them. The rest of us. Actually. When I caught wind that he had wolf ears and a
tail. I thought it was like a costume or a joke. Until I actually saw him and
got to talk to him. I can still
remember when they first came to the school. Even though it was a while ago.
And my memory never serves me well. “Adel! Hey.
Did you hear about the new kid?” My friend Sky yelled down the hall at me as
she almost ran me over. “Huh? Oh.
Isn’t there a bunch of them?” I asked as I balanced myself. She nodded excitedly. “Yeah. And
the oldest is really cute. But that’s not the point. But the youngest…” She
said pausing for a second. She leaned in and whispered. “Has wolf
ear and tail! And I even heard he could change into a wolf. They say he was
born that way.” I hugged my newest read to me, as my eyes got wide. “That’s
impossible.” I said hoping I was wrong. She shook her head. “Just wait
to till you see him!” She said excitedly. I had no clue how I had made friends
with someone who was my polar opposite. But she made my life. Interesting… “Ok. Ok. I
have to get to class.” I said walking off. “See ya
later bookworm!” She called as she rushed off. I hurried through the door of my
math class. Not my favorite. But I was good enough at it. I looked around for
any new kid. Nope. I shrugged and sat in my seat. The class
drug on for what seemed like hours. When it was finally over. I gathered my
things and hurried to my seminar/TA class. I didn’t much to do. So I spent my
time in the library organizing books and talking to Sky. “Have you
met any of them yet?” She asked. I shook my head. “I talked
to one of them last block. His name was… Uh… Josh? Yeah. He was kind of odd. But
fun to talk to.” She said smiling. I nodded. “Well. I
haven’t seen anyone new yet. I’m guessing wolf boy is hiding.” I said laughing
lightly. “I don’t
know. I didn’t ask him about his brother.” She said thinking. I sighed lightly
and finished my work. By the end
of class I was ready for lunch. Sky wanted to go out. So she drove us to a
small diner not far from the school. We sat and eat and gossiped. Then it was
back to school. My history
class was next. I noticed a new kid in this class. Not the wolf boy. But I
didn’t now him. He sat in the only open seat. Which was right next to mine. I
wasn’t very social. So Sky was the only friend I had. I sat next to him and
opened my book to do the bell work. “Hey. Your
Adel?” He asked. I glanced up at him and nodded. “I’m Felix.
Nice to meet you.” He said smiling. “Hi Felix.”
I said with I light smile. Before he could say something the teacher started
talking. After he
had finished with his lecture. We were given a worksheet and the rest of the
class to work. I had mine done quickly. And Felix asked for some help. I
offered all that I could and ended up talking to him about a few other things.
I learned that they weren’t actually all real brothers. But they grew up
together. And the reason the youngest was different was because a small
mutation of the DNA he has, which runs on his mom’s side, was inserted and he
ended up with it. Before we
knew it, the bell rang and I was off to Bio. My favorite and last class of the
day. As soon as I walked, I saw him. His gray fuzzy ears pulled back and his
tail dragging across the floor. The air was pulled out of me. He really was a
wolf boy. And he was in my seat. We didn’t really have assigned seats. But that
was the only one that had an empty one next to it. I walked up to him. “U-um… I
don’t mean to be rude. But that’s my seat…” I said trying not to upset him. One
of his ears turned in my direction and he looked up at me. “Oh. I’m
sorry. I didn’t know. Here” He said standing up. “The one
next to me is the only other open one…” I said sitting down. He nodded and sat
in the chair next to me. “So. How
does this class work?” He asked. I smiled. I loved talking about Biology. I
explained to him how we start out every day with reading a chapter from a book.
Which I explained the highlights of so he wouldn’t be lost. I then told him how
we just basically go by whatever the teacher had written on the board. “The way
you talk. It seems like this class is fun.” He said laughing lightly. I nodded.
“I love
this class. I look forward to it everyday. No matter what I’m going through.
This class always makes me feel better.” I said with a bright smile. “Well. I
think this will be a great class then.” He said as the teacher walked in. I
smiled lightly. Why was I talking so much? I’m not use to being this friendly.
I just ignored it and listened as our teacher started reading. When she had
left us with another cliffhanger of a chapter, we started to work on notes. The theory
of Evolution. Good old Chuck and his finches was always an interesting topic. I
didn’t like it as much as I did Genetics. But it was enough to hold my
interest. After notes, we were given a short worksheet. Which I decided to save
for home. I needed something to do… “So. How do
you like it here so far?” I asked. “Well… I
know people are already thinking bad stuff about me. But it’s been alright.” He
said. I looked at him worried. “Have you
made any friends?” I asked. He shook his head. I smiled. “Well.
You’ve got me.” I said nudging him lightly. Did I really just say that?! He
smiled and nodded. “Sounds
awesome.” He said. We talked about him and his differences and evolution and
anything else that came up until the bell rang. I packed up
my things and went to go wait by the door. He followed me and we just kept to
ourselves. Talking like we’ve been friends forever. I could feel the looks we
were getting. But for once, it didn’t bother me. I had someone else to be
around. That was different as well. It was good to know someone else could
understand the problems I face daily. Knowing I didn’t have to face the bullies
alone anymore. Was nice. I almost wanted to thank him. But then I would have to
explain why. And that was something to save for another day. © 2012 KittenAuthor's Note
