Wishing

Wishing

A Poem by Aldora Sparrow
"

Inspired by a poem I read last night

"

I run along the cement road

Wishing it was an endless plain

I stand in the shower

Wishing it was fresh rain

I rest under the shadow of the building

Wishing it were the great oak tree

I sit in a whirling airplane

Wishing to be a bird, forever free

I sleep under the blank ceiling

Wishing it was the starry sky

I feel the spinning of the fan

Wishing it was the wind’s sigh

I drink this sanguine water

Wishing it were sweet wine

I think of you, my dearest love

Wishing you were mine

This is very melancholy, and I love it! It's almost as though you're saying "instead of industrialization, I want the sweeter things in life." And when you talk about how you wish your love was yours, it was like you were comparing him/her to all the beautiful and natural things in life. I really like this a lot!

I really like this. Though I do wish it was longer...but perhaps that is the beauty of it...simply short yet holding a lot of meaning. Very nice.
