My impurities, my imperfections

My impurities, my imperfections

A Poem by Aldora Sparrow
"

Just a little rant of mine. A good friend that is a guy said all of these to me.

"

He told me I was beautiful
Beautiful?
My midnight hair
My obsidian eyes
My dark skin
My imperfect body
Could I be beautiful?

He told me I was smart
Smart?
My stupid mistakes
My bad grades
My slow learning
My troubled incomprehension
Could I be smart?

He told me I was funny
Funny?
My outrageous comments
My sarcastic words
My childish actions
My unusual movements
Could I be funny?

He told me I was kind
Kind?
My hateful thoughts
My raging attitudes
My degrading words
My unforgivable actions
Could I be kind?

He said he loved me
Love me?
My wrong words
My sinful actions
My cruel thoughts
My imperfect…me?
Could I be loved?
With these impurities,
These imperfections?

I believe a little over board may be the point here; it's what makes the statements work.
Obviously the things that are "wrong" are what make the persona smart, funny, beautiful, etc.
Now, if only her friend can get her to believe.... :) After all, there are a million ways to be beautiful or smart, or funny....
