A Poem by Darla
"

For colours contest. About a friend I associate with this colour.

"

What do you do, when by the time you realize who are and what you adore

Friends have already drifted across oceans

Tired of wading as you drift in shallow gardens

She is light and soft, a caring smoothness

But crisp against the backdrop of winter

Easily forgotten, gazed over,

Wishing her colour was just a little bit bolder

But terrified at the prospect of change

To confront feelings of inner softness

With loaves of bread and too many things eaten

Always hoping to please your mother,

Always looking to feel safe in a world where you are afraid

But never letting others tint your aura

She is the most guarded princess

Because even as you climb her tower

She fends you off with a sword telling herself it is just not right

You never wanted men, and it leaves you shaken to your core

That you may never find love because of it

Because all you have is you and your frightened skin

Blaming acne for brushing off affections.
