Carl Williams was a truck driver; bald cut and wore overalls. It was 3 a.m. and he was on the highway shipping gasoline to a small town. Carl had been up for 3 straight days and was exhausted. The lights on the highway and his headlights was the only source of light he had. Soon it had started to rain; the beating of the rain on the window and cylinder tank soothed Carl. Carl started to doze off. A driver getting ready to try and pass Carl notices that he is starting to swerve to the left the driver honks their horn waking Carl up. Eyes wide breathing deeply Carl had realized he has fell asleep behind the wheel and downs the rest of the red bull he had sitting in the cup holder. Mean while the driver has called the cops to make a complaint about his driving. The energy drink had only lasted about 10 more miles. Carl starting to crash from the red bull starts to doze again and soon falls into a deep sleep.

A cop car appears behind the truck with sirens wailing but by now its too late Carl has fallen into a deep sleep and can not hear anything. Carl foot begins to get heavy and lay on the gas pedal. By now Carl is going a 100 mph he begins to swerve to the left and hit’s the warning bumps on the road. The police officer continues to try and wake him up. The officer calls the office and tell them to set up a road block. Carl still not waking up goes off the road and turns over in a ditch. Carl’s left leg is now pinned to the door and the steering wheel; opening his eyes to see what has happen he begins to panic. “ sir I’m here to help you I need you to stay calm.” the officer yells. Carl not knowing that the gas from the cylinder started to leak tried to relax.

Moments later he started to smell the gas and begins to panic again. The officer runs over to try and help him out. Having to escape out the window Carl uses his right leg to try and push off the dash and climb out. Pushing off the dash with his right leg Carl pushes in the car lighter. The car lighter has a strong spring on it and projectiles a terrible distance. The car lighter shoots out the window and sets the leak of gasoline to flame. The fire begins to grow quickly and toward the cylinder. The officer sees this and without hesitation lets go of Carl; figuring there was no hope for him any longer he runs toward safety. “you son of a b***h, you’re a coward.” Carl yells. In a matter of seconds the fire reached the tank and exploded; cutting off the yelling of Carl the explosion tore the road in a 30 mile radius. The officer never had time to reach safety and got caught in the explosion.

Being that he was the only officer there no one knew he had ran in the line of duty. Everyone had figured he died trying to save a civilian believing he was brave. The officer’s funeral was followed by an award ceremony. The officer was given a medal of courage for his ‘heroic deeds.” Carl’s funeral was empty with the exception of a few drinking buddies and his now widowed wife. When asked to speak on Carl’s behave Mrs. Williams had declined. The vision of the altercation with her and Carl flash in her head. A few days ago her in Carl had got into a fight which led to him striking her she remembers telling him that she hopes he dies. Carl had became a drunk after his brother died and would come home from drinking and beat Mrs. Williams; therefore Mrs. Williams did not shed one tear at the funeral. When asked to speak at the funeral she risen up our her seat and headed for the door.

Outside the door was the officer’s wife blaming Mrs. Williams for her husbands death pulled out a pistol with a black handle and silver barrel and shoots Mrs. Williams feeling like she was avenging her husband’s death. The officer’s wife in shock that she went through with it puts the gun to her mouth and pulls the trigger blood splatters all over the grass of the church. Everyone comes to see what the commotion was .there was sirens wailing in the background. Everyone was now standing over the bodies in shock.
