U-Turns

When you reach crossroads in your life, are U-Turns an option?

 

 

 

 

 

 

I cry for the last time
I've endured the last of your vulgarities
Since I'm a regular occurance
What should I name my cross/road?

U-Turns aren't an option
for my heart will never yell RETREAT!
One ways are overrated
because my four inch broken yellow lines

never connect my arrows in the turning lanes
so now the light is red
and my heart is green
my soul is yellow

Proceed with caution
The four way stop
has congested my road maps
I yield to let you win

slamming me into dead ends
For the sake of family I lose my friends
yet family burn me, creating loose ends
I'm the carefully orchestrated embarrasment!

I cry for the last time

never connect the regular occurance

so while I yield to let you win
standing at the four way stop: tell me,
what shoud I name my cross/roads
when U-turns are no longer an option?

I hope it's not too late to add yet another review! I found your prose amusing and using traffic lights as a parallel to a sexual encounter is a new one on me! Nevertheless, it's original and I like it!

I love the way you use the street signs and lights, it brings out the poem. Cross roads can be a bit scary and full of adventure at the same time. Not knowing what lies ahead of you and starting a new is a huge step in life but one that will make you a better person. U turns are all about repeating the lesson being learned.

Call it Pain in my rear view. Sometimes letting go and leaving is not a retreat its a blessing. Imagine the fool that stays in anguish and wonders what the hell he did with the last 50 years of his awful, emotionally empty life and now he must start again new. I'm saying sometimes leaving pain in your rear view is more an answer to the question then the question without an answer. Good read.
