A ShadowA Poem by Dante CarlisleA poem of survivalNone may see Though staring all the while At a soul dying In most spectacular style No blood or screams To mark the end Only hopes and dreams To heaven sent
But the silent plea Of a dead man's cry Is plainly seen By Inferno's spy
While Cherub sits Oblivious And fails to grant Your dying wish
At the end of the day I still say Hide the pain and fear Only at your own expense For to cloak oneself Binds you to shadows hence
I found the darkness fine Not cold, like lands divine A place that I could live And a home I now call mine
So survives a soul Beaten, not yet broken One last chance at life Though hope's an unspent token For shadows never dream They do naught but sit and wait So, happy you now seem Until you meet my fate © 2014 Dante Carlisle |
