you were waiting
for a frown from a clown to fulfill your dreams,
for the rain to conceal your tears,
for darkness to hide your fear
so i came to comfort thee...
you embraced me
and i instantly knew
i was lured forever
inside of you.
though i settled in that place
where i don't always belong,
i felt in my heart that i was home.
you sheltered me
with the walls of your soul.
but i got stuck
without the image of your face.
so i tried to search for you.
i stood by the door
i knocked but it was locked,
nobody heard my plea.
thus i peered through the window.
i saw the clouds as they became
the shadows of the sun,
and it dawned on me
that i was trapped forever...
the plant would wither
and it would take me.
i was beseeching thee
to shine on me, let me live,
to let me leave you and let me see,
when i realized that deserting
such comforting solitude
would turn out to be
another painful song in the valley.
so i pondered on―
to be trapped in your memory,
could be greater than living in actuality.
and i came up with a consolation:
someday when my sanity fades,
i would be free.
until it was you
who managed to escape
from my memory
and the veins of your heart
that chained me
set me free.
we came to forget about each other―
i forgot about you,
and you forgot about me.
but never will i forget the words
i whispered to the wind
because your heart is my only window
to the beautiful world outside.
so when my eye is the only oasis
left in the desert, welling with tears,
you can always drink on me.
then just smile a little
and you're gonna make me yours again...
...and again make me see
the view from the window of your heart.
