Through A Man's Child's Eyes

Through A Man's Child's Eyes

A Poem by Danny Ballan
"

I saw these feelings and meanings in the eyes of a man who wa trapped in Lebanon for three months without seeing his new born daughter who was trapped with the rest of his family in Syria.

Through A Man's Child's Eyes

by Danny Ballan

Still waiting with hope kindled in his eyes

For the news of a life coming to this world.

In this world full of everyday news of death,

There must be somewhere in the deep shadows

For a life that's mostly gone, he found the light.

Even if it were just a dream, he was able to

Grasp the reality out of it and hold on

To what only foolish people, for which, may linger.

But then it could be this very foolish hope

That may in the end of the fray so conquer.

And the whole world is contracted into this little

Who's coming to this world fresh and so oblivious

Of what treachery is being woven in its name,

And who might think of taking this advantage

Of annihilating purity in the name of freedom,

Or whatever they may raise their flags for.

But I can imagine the baby's smile, so pure and sane

To end up all the madness and put the world in shame

For not celebrating its coming, but the leaving of many.

When so many a time the heart fluttered, but did not stop;

As it became familiar for even the eyes of children;

Through a land of mines where they used to hop.

But it is this man's dream that would conquer in the end

For no seed was planted to die and vanish on him.

And even if it did, it would one day regrow,

And fill the world with blossoms only a child can imagine.

And teach us once and for all we are doing

Is not for their sake, but it is just in vain.
