I'm broken.
I'll find you one day,
Once again look in your eyes,
And ask you...
Do you still love me?
Like you said so often,
Even after you cheated on me.

What will you say, in ten years,
When I'll ask you,
Will you look me in the eye,
And pull off another lie?
Or will you tell the truth?

When I'll give you that five minutes, you asked for that day,
What will you say?
Will you tell me the truth?
Or lie once again?

But what if, I visit you tomorrow,
And ask you to come with me to a place, and touch the cold stone,
And read the letters carved in it.
Will you cry?
Or be happy?
Did you ever even care, if I live or die?

Come on...
Speak up.
I'll be down there,
In the lonely dark,
Dead but still restlessly awake,
Knowing you can't hear me.
So I tell you now,
Your tears won't help.
You can cry all you want,
I'm long dead.

Very touching poem Danny. Expressive, emotional, heartfelt and genuine. I feel the pain. There is no doubt that breaking up is devastating.. Some are meant to be and others are not.to be in your life."Dead but still restlessly awake,' intense emotions felt from the ending of a relationship, overwhelming, a grieving process ..before the healing begins..
