Stargazing

Stargazing

A Poem by Dann Stack

What is it about gazing upon a star,

That makes you feel not quite so far?

For I know when I stand bathed in its light

That somewhere you too stand out in the night.

And when I gaze upon the moon

Does it mean I’ll see you soon?

For in the art of the cosmos painted here

I can feel your soul draw ever near

And though you may be far away

I know the moon is here to stay

And the way my heart sings when the moon does rise

So does it sing when it meets your eyes

So though the stars are far from me

When I look to them, it’s you I see.

This is lovely! The poem itself is beautifully heartwarming and romantic. I love the idea of relating the night sky to romance. It's an age-old concept, but when it's done well - like it is here - it can be amazing. You've created a real sense of longing. Well done! Might be worth having a think about using punctuation from "For in the art of the cosmos..." to "So though the stars are far from me..." It's only nitpicking, but it might make that section a little clearer and break it up slightly.
