Caged Bird

Caged Bird

A Poem by M.D.

It's feathers are bright and colorful

It's beak is golden

But it's eyes are dull

As it looks out the golden bars.

Her song tries to be bright

But the sadness of being caged

Voices over the brightness.

She spreads her wings

But they don't go all the way

The cage only allows them to go half-way.

Someone opens the window

and it reminds her of flying

and she tries but is unsuccessful.

She sits on her perch

and closes her eyes

because she is a bird

who remains trapped.
