A Poem by DaniOutLaw

Every now and then I hear songs that I swear you wrote for me,

Like a movie playing flashbacks of long ago when it was you and I,

I have learned to stitch my wings back together and how to fly,

How to live life without you in it and lock away the memories.

You and I were like the Titanic talking down on destiny,

We were destined to go down we were the cause of misery,

I caught a life line even though some say it was a tragedy,

I met someone else who brings me a surpassing visionary.

Some days I believe you will forever be my muse,

The pain I mistakenly took as love writes stories,

You are nightmares and made of horrible things,

So much self hatred but it was me that you abused.

I hear about how you're getting your life together,

I hope you heard the same about me but it's whatever,

So long since I’ve heard from you it's been forever,

You didn’t get to destroy me like nature tends to weather.
