Copenhagen 3 am, a tribute to Kenneth Rexroth

Copenhagen 3 am, a tribute to Kenneth Rexroth

A Poem by daninstockholm

Wednesday morning, 3 am

The trains had stopped running

And you were still here

Your dirty dress lay on the chair

In a heap, knickers tossed aside

Dexter Gordon had just finished his gig

I walked out of the JazzHus Montemarte

And there you were,

Your eyes smoldering and inviting

Copenhagen in the 60s was a blast

I wonder if you’re still there,

When did you stop working the streets

You said you were doing it for the sex

Didn’t need the money, but I doubted that

Your cheap dress seemed to fit our intentions

Easily removed.

It s like lyrics of Tom Waits. Very poetic and very realistic. Like morning coffee and bacon. You did more than well.
