The Dark

The Dark

A Poem by Daniielle7
"

found this one on my phone from a few years back.

"

The sky is pitch black, and the moon is bright white.

I'm all alone staring up as my soul ignites.

The sparks fly and the colors explode,

My heart catches fire and insides implode.

I grasp my gut in a defiant protest at being undressed,

but your hands reach out and soothe the pain,

and the skies open up as it begins to rain.

In the chaos, your eyes lock onto my own,

searching and yearning as I begin to groan.

Your lips silence the sounds, your fingertips trace over my back as we create our own soundtrack;

a throwback that begins to unpack every knickknack and Kodiak.

We're left in a puddle of the aftermath of the bloodbath of the worn path.

But the peaceful sound of two beating hearts in the dark, black night,

somehow makes everything alright even as the dark turns to back into the light.

You've created some awesome imagery for this sensual piece. It reads easily and pulls the reader in. Nice work.

I tend to reach for the stars, for lack of better words. My hopes are too high and my dreams are too big according to societal ways. And if there is one thing I've learned throughout my life it's not .. more..
