Zero Hour

Zero Hour

ZERO HOUR, TIME TO NOW ROLL
FUTILITY IN DIPLOMACY HAS TAKEN ITS TOLL
VIGILANCE OF WAR, AS ITS BEING PLAYED OUT
LEAVING COUNTRIES, THE WORLD, PEOPLE IN DOUBT

ZERO HOUR, AS OUR LEADERS LOOM LARGE
SOLDIERS PREPARED TO OBEY THOSE IN CHARGE
THE VERY THOUGHT OF PEOPLE, WHO WILL AND MIGHT DIE
STRIKES FEAR IN FAMILIES WITH TEARS IN THE EYE

ZERO HOUR, THE TIME HAS ARRIVED
TO FREE THOSE IN A COUNTRY, WHO HAVE SURVIVED
ATROCITIES IN THEIR VERY OWN HOMELAND
TO LIBERATE A PEOPLE, AS WE PROMISED WE CAN

TIME HAS NOW COME, ZERO HOUR IS HERE
AND WITH IT COMES A NEW SENSE OF FEAR
BUT WHAT WE AS A PEOPLE, KNOW DEEP DOWN INSIDE
THE LOVE OF OUR COUNTRY AND DEEP SENSE OF PRIDE...

..WILL PREEMPT ANY DOUBT, THAT OUR VISION IS THAT
OF LEADING A COUNTRY THAT OF IRAQ
OUT OF OPPRESSION THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR YEARS
AND TO PROTECT AND ASSEMBLE AS THEIR NEW FREEDOM NEARS

Author's Note

DanielScanlon
This piece I wrote, as I'm watching the "shock and awe" campaign in Iraq. March 19th, 2003. I sent this piece to President George (Dubya) Bush and he kindly sent a letter of form.
Today I wrote an additional piece, in regards to our military leaving Afghanistan. So I reference "fall of Saigon" and I hope you enjoy it.
