Challenge of Life

Challenge of Life

A Poem by DanielScanlon
"

The abruptness of life. It can turn on a dime!

"

They say that it’s in you, the day you were born

You draw your first breath, and then you want more

It arises around you, the first tears that you cry

Life’s very own death, you mourn and ask why?

So why is it in life…that it happens like this?

You’re going along, and then life seems amiss

Life was going quite well, splendidly indeed

Until the Creator awoke you, and planted the seed

By the time you awoke, life’s journey changed course

You weren’t always kind, feeling filled with remorse

It is never too late to turn life around

To smile at others and let joy abound

It’s with brilliant presence, and a healthy self "worth

That you come to realize that you’re not born of this earth

Might you also be reminded of a life beyond death?

And let this be that moment, you draw your next breath.

To learn to let go and move on from this life

You have much to look forward to, beyond all the strife

The rules of life might be meant to break and bend

But what life has taught me, is that life never ends
