Fall Away

Fall Away

A Poem by DanielScanlon
"

Raw emotion and a lot of mixed feelings! Backstory: My brother Tim, was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in August 2013 and his health deteriorates daily. Still in shock.

"

Fall Away

Is it something I did, or maybe something I said?

Or is it just me, inside my own head

Should I have tried something different to change feelings inside?

Those thoughts that tell me I should have died

Not knowing what’s next or what to believe

The thoughts inside are those I retrieve

And act on them as though they have weight

The path on which I deviate

If only it was a little more clear

Which path to choose, which way to steer

Knowing would help it all be okay

If I am to perish, or just fall away

There must be more to life than just getting by

Trapped in disease and waiting to die

Did all you could to pass the damn time…

And look at you now; it’s your turn to fly
