A poem about two types of people in the world, people of logic and science and people of creative thought.

Wanderers and Sailors

Whimsical wanderers wonder while solemn sailors shudder

At the dark cumulonimbus clouds of enigma fashioned by nature

Over the horizon uncertainty hovers, watching as those poets ponder

Whether to stay or journey into the blurs beyond the aperture

The sailors reckon we should focus not on capturing comprehension

Of the intricate artifacts conjured by different dimensions

But rather on progressing through time on the vessel of logical reason

That cannot be capsized by the wild waves of obliteration

But the wanderers standing on the scarlet seashore of Imaginarium

Forever gaze out at that condescending pandemonium

Dreaming of the treasures shivering in those frigid winds of damnation

Longing to one day feel the warmth of excavation

I am amongst those leaving footprints in that sacred sand

Wishing to traverse the waters isolated by caution

With the magical maestro of my unbridled curiosity, I shall leave this land

And together we will sail towards that storm, searching for profound realization

Until the chaotic cadence of our universe

Author's Note;  Happy new year, everybody!  The 2nd half of 2015 was a period of major personal growth for me, and I have no doubt that 2016 will be the same(in a good way).  I just wanted to ask you guys and gals a few questions.  Even though I am very happy with this piece here, I've realized that almost everything I write nowadays is hard to understand(according to my Dad, who proofreads my work after I write it).  Do you my work lately is hard to understand?  If it is, do you think I should continue to write like this, or should I try to make them easier to understand?  Please be honest, because I really do not like posting sub par material.  Anyways, I hope that everybody's 2015 ended on a fantastic note.  Whether it did or not, I hope that you have an even better 2016.  See ya next time! Dan,

This piece is fantastic and I understood the message very well. I also think that if you ever need to warm up for a speech, you should read this poem out loud to yourself to help loosen things up!

I find your writing amazing, and even if I do not understand some of it, I like that I am able to ponder about it. Writing that makes people think is very powerful and shouldn't be taken lightly. Also since I know your into music, a lot of songs in the rock to metal genre are also very cryptic with their messages. Because of this I think your style of writing suits you very well.

For example, I don't think anyone knows what half of Metallica's song are even about, but people love them because they are fun to sing and use vocab that not many other artists use. :)

I'm glad to hear that you can understand this piece Amber. For some bizarre reason, my writing lately is just naturally cryptic most of the time. I'm not even trying to make them like that! Anyway, you are right about these seeming like they'd be metal songs, because I'm often inspired by bands Such as Nightwish, and if I had any musical talent, I'd probably try creating symphonic metal(with possibly a small hint of dubstep mixed into it). Thanks for reviewing. :)

This poem seems to be one of my more cryptic poems, according to most people. In the end though, I think writing doesn't necessarily have to immediately make sense to be good. I really appreciate your review, solar :)

Personally, I like these types of poems - they invite several readings. I have written in a similar vein but like you say it takes time for people to get into.

Everybody has thier own style. Poetry is'nt always about easily understood verses, or multiple metaphors, or ryhming. It's what you feel, the story you want to say, the picture you want to paint. Sometimes it does a body good to change it up and experiment. Either way, what ever you feel your mind, your heart is telling your hand to write.

Yeah, I know that poetry doesn't always have to be easily understood. I have been making myself experiment with my writing more recently, mainly because I strive to be as consistently creative as I can be. I think part of the reason I'm having trouble writing lately might be because I have been going against my heart as far as what I want to write recently, because I don't want to get stuck in a trend of writing the same kind of song all the time(that would get boring very fast). Everything that you have said is true. I think I'll start writing with my heart more. Sometimes, even long time writers need reminding. Thanks for reviewing :)

Dan, not everyone if gifted in the knowing of definitions of words. Your word usage is huge and parts have to be looked up in a dictionary. Simple wording might help but never quit knowing or using those big words. Valentine

I have realized that my vocab may be too rich in many of my pieces lately. That is mainly because I feel like I'm being lazy if I repeat too many words in multiple songs and poems In a row. I am going to try and work on this. Thanks for being honest Valentine :)
