Transcend

There once was a time when I thought I held within my palm

A stardust spectrum so furiously calm, but that notion has dissolved

In a tsunami of fiery napalm and fallen monuments

As I stand face to face with total annihilation

The prophecy of silenced dreams has bared the fruit of dismay

This tragic irony has such an intoxicating taste

Once we claimed to be gods, now we serve as a memento mori

Close your eyes and whisper goodbye

Trapped by the terror that taunts my resolve with scenes ominous

I struggle to keep my screams suppressed; why have you abandoned me, Solace?

We are fires faint against the dark heart of this plot

By the interstellar oculus we have been left to rot

The prophecy of silenced dreams has bared the fruit of dismay

This tragic irony has such an intoxicating taste

Once we claimed to be gods; now we serve as a memento mori

Close your eyes and whisper goodbye

Standing in the presence of the dreaded essence

Of newfound valor, we pray, for we know there's no escape

The phasing daylight has managed to cure the night

Of the disease that held the children she swore to protect

Brothers and sisters, we've failed; courage has prevailed

This is our final battle

Please Read;  Hey guys and gals, cats and dogs.  I'm just writing this little message here just to let you know that this is going to be the last piece of writing I post on this site for an indefinite amount of time.  This is due to a combination of school(I'm in my very last year of high school, and it's going to be a tough one), burnout, and because I have simply lost my enthusiasm for writing. That last reason is why my last few pieces have been somewhat...off.  I'm not going to close my account(since I may return to the site someday), but for now I'm putting the pencil down, and am going to try to find new things to do.  With all of that being said; tell me what you think of  this piece, as usual.  I will still be checking the site periodically.  Thank you to all of you who have always been there to read and critique my writing, and told me whenever I needed to make some corrections.  I wouldn't be the writer I am now if it weren't for those reviews.  I really hope you enjoyed my writing.  Au revoir(oh great, now I sound like I'm trying to be all dramatic.  Somebody put a nail on this drama king's throne cushion asap.)

Read your note and so glad you're still writing here! This just overwhelmed me with the power of the thoughts burning in pain and prophecies. Mysteries seem to be unveiled in every line, and you close with such a vast and profound glimpse at the end. Or maybe it's the beginning.

Another great piece. I think I'll come back to re-read this one again a few times. On the other hand, I know how you feel when you have to shift focus to school. I was in the same spot for a few months this year, but I finally graduated with my bachelors of science in Psychology. My next focus shift will not be as gut wrenching as finishing up school. But it will be starting next month on looking for work in my field of study. At least I'll still have some time (hopefully) to write a bit more and post here. But I'm glad that you are shifting your focus to school. It'll all be over before you know it. Also, don't throw creative writing out all together. One piece of advice I can offer is, READ. Don't get carried away with reading books your classes assign to you. Try to find at least 30 minutes to an hour of reading just for leisure-sake. Not only is it a good way (just like writing) to take some of that school stress off, it will also help you keep your love for literature from being killed by school.

Hmm... I'm not sure of the true meaning of this piece but to me it almost sounds like experiencing a lost lover. But either way if I guessed it or not, I still enjoyed reading it. What I like about this one is that there are many different meaning to pull away from it, and the one the reader feels most for will be what they decide they get from it :)
Dan, I'LL MISS YOU! I can honestly say I'm a fan of your work. Feel free to send me a review if/when you pick up the pencil again. Thank you for all of your great and through reviews you have done on my work as well, the feedback was well worth the effort to write it. The Senior year is really important, I remember back in my old... old... senior days (almost three years ago now) I was going nuts trying to do my best in all of my classes. I wish you good luck and maybe along the way you'll find out something new about yourself :) It has been an honor!

Dan, Sometimes, I was in touch with your writing and sometimes, I was not. But, the writing itself, was intensive, profound, interesting to say the very least. I will miss having you here on this site for a variety of reasons. One is that we, you and I had bridged a generational gap and communicated. I will miss the freshness that you brought to your reviews of my writings. Good luck to you my friend.
