If imaginary friends were real, what would their last words be to us before we inevitably left them in our childhoods?
Let the Ivory Towers Fall
Relentlessly merciless are the worlds in which we live
Tearing down the magic with the touch of metamorphosis
I remember the moment the sober summer solstice ended
But before I let you go, I have one last message to send
One day it will come, the requiem of your childish whims
And all that remain is a cradle of fragmented prisms
But I want you to vow that when the waves break the bow
You will hold out and make the most of the time you're allowed
Let the ivory towers fall down
As the diamond sky drowns in a sea of burning eiderdown
The cities of our hearts can slowly become ghost towns
And our minds are left calcified by cold truth personified
But we must not ever forget we wage a war with time
One day it will come, the requiem of your childish whims
And all that remain is a cradle of fragmented prisms
But I want you to vow that when the waves break the bow
You will hold out and make the most of the time you're allowed
Let the ivory towers fall down
Traverse the tundra and reach the Beaches of Elan
And embrace the warmth of five thousand lithium suns
One day it will come, the requiem of your childish whims
And all that remain is a cradle of fragmented prisms
But I want you to vow that when the waves break the bow
You will hold out and make the most of the time you're allowed
Let the ivory towers fall down
Think not that this is goodbye, but just as the end of this lullaby
Imagine if the imaginary friends when we were young were actually real, but we just didn't know it because they resided in a different universe than ours, and then imagine if they knew and cherished the connection they share with us, and were aware of the fact that we would one day forget them, and decided, despite how futile it might be, to send one last message to us in the hopes that, if we heard it, we would heed whatever advice they had to give us. That would be something, wouldn't it?
Geez, I'm sorry I haven't uploaded anything for about a month. It seems that my creative drive has run dry lately (even writing this piece here was a bit of a struggle), and this is really the first thing I have written in a month. I feel like this might just be the weakest, scratch that, WORST piece of writing I have ever written, but I've decided to keep and post this anyway for some weird reason. Anyway, tell me what you think, as always, and be honest! :)

A requeim of a reverie! beautiful and haunting in its images - it works its magic! So many spell-binding lines - I liked these: Traverse the tundra and reach the Beaches of Elan
And embrace the warmth of five thousand lithium suns

I always thought my imaginary friends were my guardian angels. Although I wasn't like some kids who went through a period of actually talking to their imaginary friends, I always felt like I could feel my angel's presence though. You have a beautiful piece here.

Lol Dan I don't think this is weak at all! It fact it is an amazing thing to consider. And a sad realization that if in fact, Teddy was real in a different world I hope he's having a great time. (I didn't have imaginary friends but more so gave my stuffed animals life). The world did seem a lot more magical as a kid filled with many more possibilities. Damn adulthood making us all boring and stuff. Good work :)

For all we know, every single thing we think of in our minds could actually exist; there currently isn't anything to disprove this(and I know a lot of people would scream out about religion and God and everything (who I do believe in), but I think it is rather arrogant for the human race to assume that it is the only thing that God has created. After all, because he's this Omnipotent entity, he most certainly has the creativity, power and mentality to create and manage as many things as he wants, doesn't he? Existence, to me, is God's Minecraft, only he has no limit of any kind on what he can make. I may be entirely wrong about this entire thing, I may be right, who knows? "It's possible" is really the best answer that we will ever be able to question of the existence of God. Everything else is just faith; something I have plenty of. Thanks for reviewing Amber :)

We will never know all the answers. 'God's Minecraft'.... I have to admit I don't have a religion but this was just clever because whatever it is that has this power to create everything truly would be like building blocks. Opening my thoughts to more possibilities :)
I hate writers block as it is something I am going through now. Enjoyed this thank you.

Yes you are right...This is interesting...I wish that could be true...cause they would be more than our reflection...maybe they would understand and know us so much better than we even we know ourselves..
I hope that makes sense...I loved this...
Thank You for sharing :)!

You are a treasure Dan. I have no clue as to where from these ideas of yours flow but, it is remarkable data that could never have come from a mind as regimented as mine. I come from the world of yesterday and you are seeing visions of tomorrows that I cannot begin to comprehend. Keep writing Dan. You and other like you have an audience that will hear you and listen.

I personally don't see myself as very creative as much as I see myself as an average person who has a few short, creative moments every now and then. Still, I'm very glad there are people like yourself who approve of my work. Thanks for the review :)
