My Ebony HeartA Poem by DoormanDanA poem written for one of the main characters in my book "One Minute"My Ebony Heart Behind my eyes there's a lantern light That cries for help from the divine Behind this mask, my smile and laugh Is a broken girl scarred by a painful past Twinkle, twinkle little star, let me rest my head in your arms Erase these claw marks bestowed upon my ebony heart I'm tired of being so alone in this gleaming stream of stone Dear Misery, let me go so I can find the warmth I've never known Lingering is this fierce, freezing feeling That society will not ever accept me All that they see is a sick monstrosity But that doesn't mean I'm a demon queen Rain, oh rain, please go away, come back again some other day Today just let the shining sun lay his fingers upon my face For centuries I've played this game of hiding from the world, afraid Give me somebody truthful when they say I don't have to be ashamed © 2015 DoormanDanAuthor's Note
