Reflections in the Water

Reflections in the Water

A Poem by DoormanDan
"

About the people who've decided to abandon their fears

"

Reflections in the Water

Sun reflection in the water.

I have spent so long hiding inside of the shadow of the sun

Because I was afraid to step out into this world of siren songs

But I have had enough of standing behind these closed curtains

One day the end may come upon us like an apparition

So as of today I shall erase this valley of paper  flowers

And replace it with never-ending plains of amaranth

I am done looking at the Earth through reflections in the water

Now I will kick down the door and step into the mist

I've been a part of the realm of colorless photos and dust-covered harps

For as long as I have been writing my sad story with the stars

But the words of my father I now remember

He told me that sunlight won't ever reach those living in the Nether

So as of today I shall erase this valley of paper  flowers

And replace it with never-ending plains of amaranth

I am done looking at the Earth through reflections in the water

Now I will kick down the door and step into the mist

We are all wavering candle lights shining briefly in the night

Until the day I melt away and become another faded ink page of time

I will hold my hands up high and live my life

Tonight I die so that I can finally be alive

As of today I shall erase this valley of paper  flowers

And replace it with never-ending plains of amaranth

I am done looking at the Earth through reflections in the water

Now I will kick down the door and step into the mist

I was inspired to write this one when I was outside my house at night, looked in the attic window, and saw a full moon in the reflection. Tell me what you think of it! :)

Im glad you like this poem. Spoken word can be really awesome at times. Thanks for reviewing :)
Wow, this was epic and beautiful... full 100 for this. I love your creativity with colors and fonts and underlines... I love your imagery and the way your words flow together, sounding like modern poetry and Shakespearean era alike... I love how true the message in this is, and I love how beautifully it is said. Great write man, great write. I could almost see this put to music, or becoming famous.

Well, you never know! And no problem. :)
I really like your story as to how this poem came to mind! It's so fascinating that a work of art is triggered in ones head just by one sight or thought. It made me feel like I can stretch my hands out to the impossible. Great work :)

You're welcome:)
This poem says a lot about the underneath you. In some ways it reminds me of myself when I was your age. Shy, afraid to step out of my comfort zone etc. You have expressed all of this so well. Kathie

What I got out of it is a since of rebirth of oneself. The doing away of the waisting away of oneself, replacing it with the resolve to live life to the fullest, overcoming the petty things that bring us down. For life is to short and we need to make the most of it. Just what I got out of it, I don't know if that is what your message behind the poem was. Thanks for sharing!
