Ten Thousand Worlds

Ten Thousand Worlds

A Poem by DoormanDan
"

In loving memory of my birth Dad

"

Ten Thousand Worlds

The arctic wind is colder than ever before

Without your presence here to keep me warm

You and I are now separated by ten thousand worlds

That distance has ravaged my core with roaring sandstorms

Sadness wrapped her cloak around my heart

As they lowered you down into the dark

If only I could have seen you one last time

If only I had the chance to say goodbye

Though you’re now on the other side of the divide

You’ll always be right here by my side

There’s nothing I wouldn’t give to see your face again

But I know that you’ll be waiting for me at the end

Your memory I will never forget

I love You Dad.  Rest in Peace

My birth dad died a few years ago from Lung Cancer. I hadn't seen him in many years, and didn't get the chance to say goodbye. This is dedicated to him.

Im sorry to hear that. I can feel the sadness of the lost in this poem. I have just lost my step-dad 6 months ago, and lost my grandfather/adopted dad my high school year. I know how you feel and this really hit home because i have been through the same thing and feel the same way. I appreciate you sharing this poem.

Thanks for the review Stephen, I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well.
Ah Dan, this is sweet but at the same time very sad....
At least your Dad died from something like that, My dad didn't want me to be born and I think you get the rest of the story...
Although I do miss the paternal figure, like your poems says: ''Ten thousand worlds dividing us''
Ah supersymmentry....
I do love this poem a lot Dan, I'm really sorry too but you are one great writer and I'm sure that he's happy watching you from heaven

Dan, im so sorry for your loss. I have birth parents that I never met. I dont know where they are or if they are still living... I bet it hurts to lose someone that you love so much but hardly got to meet. This is a wonderful poem. Your dad is probably watching you from Heaven right now. He must be so proud of you. I'm proud of you:)

All right, I knew that you could do it. Along with your songs, write a poem now and then, it will help your writing to grow. This poem is going into my favorites box. Your dad would have loved it..Kathie
