Let There be Fire

For all of those who have something to protest about.

Let There be Fire

 Can't you hear the thunder?  In the fog there lurks danger

So will you fight or let your mortal cord sever?

Come, let us start a world war, this is the witching hour

No more will we let them get away with murder

So load up your shotgun shells, this place is a living hell

Where evil angels dwell, this is for all those who fell

Welcome in the rush of adrenaline, the devil is closing in

But we're not giving in, we'll see this through to the end

So let there be smoke and let there be fire!

We are not afraid to die, we are freedom fighters

The shadows have spoken, step out onto the wire!

And keep yourself together, this is our own endeavor

I can't look you in the eyes and promise that we'll make it out alive

The enemy is within our sight, side by side we enter the hive

Unleash all your horsepower, load a bullet into the chamber

And show these voracious people your trigger finger (bang!)

We're not birds of a feather, that doesn't mean they're better

Come on, we have got a rebellion to declare

We are the supernatural, the peculiar and the paranormal

The ghosts walking the hall, the ones not accepted at all

They can't take our dreams, we'll write our names in gasoline

And finally make them see that we'll be who we want to be!

All it takes is just a single spark to ignite all of the dark

Make sure they remember who you are, carve your name into the bark

Don't be afraid to show your scars, where their words left their mark

They have no right to tell you what you are

This one took me a few hours to write because I altered my usual writing style a little. Can you see any difference at all?

This is just astonishing. Wow, I'm actually kind of speechless right now, blown away. Such powerful words. I could absolutely see these as lyrics to a song I would listen to again and again - I actually find myself hoping that will be the case. I just... Damn. You have a real way with words Dan! I have to say I haven't read another poem like this one on here. Believe it or not, this is the first time I see color in a poem, and I love it! Red and orange... colors of fire. Very creative.

The rhyming scheme is also on point and unleashes an epic read. Quite an inspirational piece. Sounds like something someone would shout out to a whole crowd of people.

Funny, no matter the side in any conflict each side is programmed to fight and struggle for the same generic causes: God, fatherland, motherland, country, and freedom. Those terrorists today, who are taking the lives of innocents, have been programmed to believe they are fighting for freedom in denying the freedoms of others and their very breath ...
